Marilyn Hubley <[email protected]>
Hello, I am a part of a Brain Injury group that spans the globe. I
have a friend here in Canada that has something that is of great
concern to him and I wonder if you can help. Here is his story: The
night of February 3 1961 was a Friday night and six of us soldier
apprentices were on our way home for a weekend Pass. The weather was a
mixture of snow and rain as I indicated in letters that followed. My
guess was that I was asleep in the back seat with two other soldier
friends. The front seat was occupied by Harold Lackey from Perth
Ontario Canada a private apprentice of the second year group. He was
also the driver of the vehicle. The other passengers were Private
Howard McKinney of Kamloops British Columbia Canada. He was also a
second year apprentice. The other soldier in the front was Private
Jack Goodbody of Perth Ontario Canada. He was with me and my two other
friends a Private Wayne Fulstner of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada and
Private Robert Stenburg of Red Deer Alberta, Alberta Canada these were
first year apprentices like myself. The accident occurred at Sharbot
lake Ontario Canada where we were involved in a accident with another
vehicle driven by a Air Force Officer. The three in the front were
killed I think instantly. I received my TBI here then. The two other
occupants in the back to this day I know not of there where abouts.
Another part of the hurt in my life. Keith Sherrard He told me one
of the occupants he doesn't know about is named Robert Stenburg from
Red Deer, Alberta and he is about 55 now if still alive. Could you
please let me know if you can help or tell me where to go next. It
would mean a great deal to us. Thanking you in advance Marilyn

RE: John Wesley Fiegenwald My father, John Wesley Fiegenwald
(deceased) served with the Cameron Highlanders in WW2 and spent time
in Holland, I believe. He died in 1987, taking his stories with him.
He was awarded a British Empire Medal and I believe was injured at
some point and was sent home. If you served with him, or knew of him,
would you please e-mail me at [email protected]. I also see in
the Ottawa Citizen for May 25/98 that Doreen Lesley Akers of 20 Park
Walk, Purley-on-Thames, Reading BerkshireEngland RG.88.BT is looking
for her father, who served in the Cameron Highlanders at Harley
Witney, Hampshire, England in the 1940s until 1943. One of his names
was Wesley. I have no idea if my father could be the person she is
looking for but would like to assist if I could. She was born in 1943
to Lily Dorothy harris of ZinZanStreet, Reading, Berkshire. I have
included her address in the event that someone has information that
could help her. Thank for your assistance. Lori Falls Thanks.

Im currently researching material for a history book on Vernon
Army Cadet Camp in Vernon BC. As some of you know it was a large and
important wartime training camp 1940-45 and has been an army cadet
summer camp since 1949. Im particularly interested in the 1950s to
1970s, but I certainly wont turn down good information on any other
summer. I realize that some of you were Army Cadet members and this
might be of particular interest to you. Please feel free to pass on
this information to any and all former cadets or CIC/CIL/CSofC/Reg
Force and Militia staff that have spent a summer at Vernon. The
eventual goal is to publish this book in the next two years, hopefully
in time for the 1999 50th anniversary of the camp and reunion. Yes, I
know of the humourous semi-fictional VACC novels written by Cordell
Cross, however this book is meant to be factual with plenty of
interesting and little known facts and photos. Specifically Im
interested in personal stories: what was it like the first time you
went to Vernon; amusing stories; what the camp meant to you; favorite
memories; photos of which Ill be happy to cover expenses. As for why
Im undertaking this effort, I too was an army cadet, spending my
summers in Vernon in 1978-1980. The camp means a lot to me. Please
contact me anytime. I thank you in advance. Acer Acerpori

was a Private by the name of Charles Bruce Graham. He trained at CFB

other person was an officer by the name of Alfred N Daykin. He served
in the Boer War as well as WWI overseas and apparently received a
battlefield promotion during his service. He grew up and probably
enlisted into the Forces in Red Deer, Alberta. One of his descendents

My Father Joseph Coull Burnett served with the CEF in WW!. He enlisted
in Saskatoon in 1915 and landed in England in Oct 1916 as part of the
96th. Battalion. Two days later he was assigned to the 92nd. Battalion
and in Jan 1917 he was moved to the 5th. Reserve Battalion. All of
these were Highland Kilted units or so I am told. The 96th. were not
continued after the war and the 92nd. and the 5th. were absorbed by
the Cameron Highlanders. I have a single photograph of my Father in
full Highland Uniform and I would like to know what Tartan he is
wearing. The48th. Highlanders museum tell me it isn't the 92nd. or
5th. Tartan and they didn't know what it was. I have discerned that
there was two possiblities and the 96th. were either the Saskatchewan
Highland Battalion or the North Saskatchewan Battalion and the Tartan
is one of theirs. have contacted the War Museum of Canada but have had
no answers as of yet. If you are able to help you can view the
photograph of my Father taken shortly after his arrival at E.
sandling, England. Any help would be appreciated.

July 20, 1997. For some time I have tried to locate a Canadian
veteran who was with the Canadian Army in The Netherlands in 1945. I
need your help. Canadian veterans know this country better as Holland
where they, still today, are treated like royalty. At the age of 12,
my family and I were liberated by the Canadians. This was in the
northern part of Holland. The soldier I am looking for was known as
Willy Allen, Regiment is uncertain but he served with the 5th Armoured
Divison of which part was stationed in or near the City of Leeuwarden
in the Province of Friesland. Mr. Allen was kind of short and had
reddish hair, supposedly from Ontario and lived near Lake Ontario and
perhaps St. Catherines. I would love to get in contact with Mr. Allen
although this may be not be possible any more as he was an older
soldier. Should he have passed away I would like to get in contact
with his family. Thank you for your time and effort and hope to
receive replies to this e-mail. Greetings from, John Boers

Time to update: The following 2 people are on my "really nice to find

get in touch, just pound out an insult or two, to let me know that
you're alright.

Welcome to the Canadian Army Personnel Locator. This page is basically
a clone of the War Diary page, and was created as a stop-gap measure
until the "Full-Blown" locator comes up (which is likely going to be
*quite* a while). Hopefully this will address the concerns of some of
the users who felt (quite rightly) that the War Diary was being used
primarily for general discussions. Hopefully this will satisfy both
groups, and allow everyone to use the page as they require. If anyone
has any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me.
