Canadian snipers use specialized equipment such as the McMillan Tac-50, a bolt-operated .50 calibre sniper rifle specially designed for the purpose of long-distance sharpshooting (as opposed to sniper weapons of the 20th Century which were generally factory-adapted versions of the standard service rifles such as the Ross, SMLE, and Number 4 Mark I Lee Enfield.)
