SAR Tech's also make the Rescue Specialist Allowance, info found here.

http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/about-policies-standards-benefits/ch-205-officer-ncm-allowance-rates.page

205.31 - Rescue Specialist Allowance (RESSPECA)

As an NCM they are one of the higher earning trades (Spec 2 pay, and RESSPECA).

Just curious; I saw a SAR Tech walking around with what looks like Multicam the other day (didn't get close enough to see any real details).  Are they thinking of trialling a new uniform?

They are trialing new two-piece flying suits - based upon what the CANSOFCOM guys are currently wearing.

Interesting - any chance those new suits will be issued to aircrew too?  I like the idea of not tucking in my shirt on the 2-piece.

Just because they prefer to get out halfway through the flight doesn't make them non-aircrew;  they simply have the option of placing less faith in pilots than you do.   :P

Technically, SAR Techs are flight crew, not aircrew.

Actually, IIRC, the CFA0 (55-something?) says aircrew trades include Pilot, Nav, FE, SAR Tech and AESOP.  Flight crew are Loadies, Flt Srgn, Flt Steward, Flt Attendant, Test Evaluators, etc.

I might be wrong by my UFI is usually ok.   ;D

Edit - found it in an earlier UFI post of mine   ^-^

SAR Tech
« Reply #566 on: October 04, 2016, 17:46:33 »
Hey all!

Long time lurker, first time poster.  Is anyone thinking about selection for this year?  We had a brief on the trade here at Gagetown last week and was wondering if anyone from that brief, or in general, has / will be doing their pre-selection fitness test soon?  I'm just curious to see if there's anyone around that wants to train up for selection, should we be so lucky to be chosen!

Thanks!

I was watching TDV over the Christmas break.

So did anyone ever catch a rabbit using a snare in the survival part of Prelim? Those couple of days with no food must be brutal.

Howdy folks,

I'm looking for a solid up-to-date answer as to what the requirements are for SAR Tech application (time in, specifically).
I've heard 4 years w/ Cpl; 5 years w/ Cpl; and even 36 months for combat arms was mentioned a few pages back here.

For the record I've searched these forums as well as google, all varying results :(

It seems to change based on the needs at the time. I can tell you that the trade is at an all-time low and they are desperate for people... So if you are currently a member, I'd talk to your BPSO.

Hello! I am a civilian and I have a few questions about SAR and

I would really appreciate it if you can help me out.

Are there any search and rescue division in the Forces ?

Is it a trade on its own ?
