Title: St Barbara's Day 2016
Post by: Old Sweat on December 04, 2016, 10:41:20
Happy St Barbara's Day 2016 to all gunner, sappers, naval weapons type and anyone who works with explosives. Still, by way of a reminder, there are two kinds of people, gunners and targets.

And we never forget those we serve, as Kipling wrote in his 1903 poem:

Ubique means that warnin’ grunt the perished linesman knows,
When o’er ’is strung an’ sufferin’ front the shrapnel sprays ’is foes;
An’ as their firin’ dies away the ’usky whisper runs
From lips that ’ave n’t drunk all day: “The Guns! Thank Gawd, the Guns!”

Indeed!

I rolled the cannon into the backyard after explaining the reason for the event, and then me and the minions fired off a few blank rounds.  Always good fun to turn powder into smoke!
