Army.ca Terms & Conditions Updated
« on: June 11, 2014, 11:13:48 »
Folks,

In the coming days, the Army.ca Terms & Conditions will be changing slightly. Primarily, these changes are to ensure we are compliant with CASL, the new Canadian Anti-Spam Law.

In simple terms, the changes are to add a second, optional checkbox to the terms, that requires you to "opt in" to newsletter mailouts. Wait... what newsletter you ask? Well, there isn't an Army.ca newsletter and never has been. However if we ever in future want to have one, we have to ask the question now, before the June 30th deadline.

Once it has been reviewed and verified, all users will be required to accept the terms & conditions before proceeding (though they may opt out of the newsletter, which is the default state).

There are also minor updates to the agreement to modernize it (got rid of a Geocities reference, for example) and to make it reflect the current reality (the family of sites, not just Army.ca).

If anyone has any questions or concerns, just let me know.

Cheers
Mike

As long as you don't try and sneak in a Humancentipad clause in there.  ;D

I'll leave the rest of the story up to everyone to read on their own. Suffice it to say, you'll never look at terms and conditions the same way again.
It's hard to win an argument against a smart person, it's damned near impossible against a stupid person.
