US Offered 8 Bases in PI
« on: December 09, 2018, 10:47:26 »
This would be very valuable in our quest to curb Chinese ambitions. The government has offered 8 bases including the former Clark AFB and Subic Bay.

Where did this come from?   I thought the current President of PI was perpetually pissed off with the West, and putting real effort into boosting relations with China?

Is this just him trying to be in both sides' good books?

We know he's pissed off at Trudeau. Who else?

Duterte is arming for bear since the Chinese are appropriating islands claimed by the Philippines.  When they are done pummelling China, we'll be "corny" and buy their used Gripens (if they ever receive them) so that they can be used for peaceful purposes.

Good to see Canadian politicians aren't the only ones who can't tell the difference between a Huey and an Apache...

A contract for attack helicopters?  I wish the contract had been fulfilled, if for no other reason to see the disappoint on his face when they were delivered...

Using a C9 from a Canoe doesn't make it a warship any more than strapping some machine guns to the doors of a Huey makes it an attack helicopter.
