US Approves F35 Sale
« on: July 10, 2020, 06:17:34 »
The US has approved the sale of 100 F35 aircraft to Japan. It would be a mix of A and B models.

CNN is making the point I think the F35 is a short term fix until their stealth fighter is in production.

The article Tomahawk6 posted was about Japan requesting F-35's.

Here is a recent article saying the sale has been approved

I wonder what this will do to the price we will have to pay if Ottawa pulls the trigger and buys the F-35?

Our pricing would be dictated by the terms of the PSFD MOU.

What dapaterson said above.

Also, we are past the point where each country ordering a few planes has a significant impact on the cost of the plane.  The planes are being produced in sufficient mass for the USAF, and B-model for the USMC...and allies...that the cost fluctuations that were a media subject a few more years ago, aren't really an issue anymore.

Any decrease in cost that would have resulted from Japan order 100+ planes will most likely be mostly negated by Turkey's removal from the program, and the loss of sales that resulted in.    :2c:
