Does anybody know how I can findout which regiment my father was in during the 2nd world war?

The more info you have such as DOB, full name, the date he signed up, etc the easier your search will be. Armed with that, you can have a look at these options:

http://army.ca/info/contacts.php

The Archives are by far the best source. Once you know the regiment you may be able to contact them (if they still exist) for more info.
