FORCE 2025: Informing the Army’s future structure

Log, RCEME, and Sigs can all be posted between various units & sub-units in all the big army & navy bases. Yes, some occupations have to move more because they are more distributed in smaller numbers to support everywhere. But, I have known cooks, clerks, and maintainers to spend as long in one...

FORCE 2025: Informing the Army’s future structure

It is not that Cbt Arms can’t deal with some geographic instability and the need for occasional moves. Every occupation has some requirement to move, but the vast majority of occupations can move people between between different units & sub-units inside of a single geographic location. This...

FORCE 2025: Informing the Army’s future structure

As much as regimental politics currently demands that everyone get an equal slice of pie, this is the worst possible way to mitigate. The geographic career stability of the current regimental system would be completely gone. The multi-capbadge structure of your armoured units would be prone to...

FORCE 2025: Informing the Army’s future structure

Because an Army reorg plan is only going to tinker with Army assets. 1 Div is not Army, it is CJOC.

But the different uniform colours need all those orgs to check the box on formation command for more potential 2-leafs.

Afghan Interpreters, Others Fast-tracking to Canada

I watched his presentation when it was being broadcast live. Maybe it was a message that a PM or minister should have delivered, but Eyre delivered the message that the country needed to hear. He nailed it, and anyone else would have dropped the ball.

Sexual Misconduct Allegations in The CAF

And other professions also use balance of probabilities to publicly administer discipline. There is nothing controversial here. https://www.apega.ca/docs/default-source/pdfs/discipline-decisions/discipline/2019-02-14-apega-discipline-decision-17-015-fh.pdf?sfvrsn=50369a86_2

Sexual Misconduct Allegations in The CAF

If you want to be CDS (again) and have your lawyers publish a statement like that, you are misrepresenting the profession’s disciplinary process and undermining the public’s confidence in the institution’s ability to police itself. Not really a great CoA.

He is forcing the government to take a position. Either come out and explicitly remove him, or do nothing and passively show acceptance.

Sexual Misconduct Allegations in The CAF

It would be punishable under s 130 of the NDA, so would that not mean there is no US jurisdiction granted by your second quote? And where the ship is considered sovereign to Canada, an act committed on the ship would would have been in a space excluded from US territory, which means no US...

Sexual Misconduct Allegations in The CAF

SOFA applies to crew members if & when they leave the ship, but while on ship they are subject to home nation jurisdiction.

Sexual Misconduct Allegations in The CAF

I though Sovereign Immunity applied to a nation’s warships when in another nation’s waters. That would preclude any US jurisdiction.

Sexual Misconduct Allegations in The CAF

True in our current system because it was designed that way. But what does the profession gain from maintaining parallel systems to address misconduct? Currently it creates a problem where it appears the profession does not hold members accountable for misconduct and/or negligence. In fact, the...

Will we ever get to true joint capability development when the strongest voices are defending what each service sees as its identity?

Sexual Misconduct Allegations in The CAF

Still over complicating but, instead of meshing things that are separate processes, you are now separating out things that are not unique. Release for Op Honour violations is release for conduct. It flows from the remedial measures process which covers conduct and performance. We are now in the...

does a back knee injury disqualifies from Basic?

See your doctor; find out what your injury actually is and if it needs physio or other medical intervention. Then people can maybe help with answers.

LETE was pretty small and surrounded by suburbs. I don’t think we ever did explosive testing of vehicles there. DRDC Valcartier does that sort of work. They have blown up most (if not all) armoured vehicle types in CAF service to assess & improve survivability.

Sexual Misconduct Allegations in The CAF

You are over complicating this. Universality of service and security clearance reviews are red herrings that would not somehow need to be separated out from conduct. They already are separated out; they already have their own processes that do not overlap those used for conduct. The idea is that...

Sexual Misconduct Allegations in The CAF

Careful that you are not building a strawman argument. I did not see anything suggesting what you are attacking. I think a judicial body is what the post was proposing. Most professions have a disciplinary body that holds members accountable to professional standards of conduct and performance...

    New brown Mk IVs coming?

No. It is primarily Canadian officers in DGLEPM, not British. Regardless, the requirements staff (who should be coordinating trials) are in the Army Staff and they represent a cross section of all branches and regiments.
