    A Canadian Soldier-Good Poems

These are all great and sensationally inspirational, but any more that are NON army, aka AF or Navy?

    All eyes on Ignatieff

Sorry E.R Campbell I don't believe that malarky, you as an anglo-canadian, living in the here and now, cannot, I repeat cannot tell me how thousands upon thousands of franco-canadians, felt about heeding the call of the British Empire for World War 1. Now I'm not trying to say that they all...

Reserve Service Dress Uniform (aka "DEU") Issue

See George you got stuck on that part...but I in no way put down the Army reservists...I just said what WE did...since I don't know what the army reservists do...so get off my back. Its a Valid point...because its a FACT, that THAT is we the Air and Naval Reserves do, up until now I didnt even...

Reserve Service Dress Uniform (aka "DEU") Issue

Just to clarify, Air and Naval reservists, get their DEU's issued at BMQ, just like the Reg Force mbrs, because we wear it upon graduation. Chiefs and officers are really the only ones who wear their DEU's often, PO's and below usually wear NCD's, except for on ship. I know we wear our DEU's...

    Name Tapes

Just wondering as I am hearing some conflicting information about the NCD Nametapes. Well I'm used to seeing them length dependant upon name, i.e if your name is 4 letter long, well its a short nametape, vs 12 letters long, but lately I have been hearing that we have moved the way to the...

Reserve BMQ/SQ not being accepted to full force?

I in fact did do my BMQ through NavRes, May-Jul 2006. WRT to my BMQ only being valid for the Reg F Navy and AF, I can attest that this is NOT true, for 2 reasons: 1. In the Reg F, Naval, Air Force and Army personnel do the SAME basic training...there is NO difference, and the NavRes do the...

Monthly Pay after deductions - Questions [Merged]

Pte(b) is your rank...not your IPC. Pay goes by Rank and IPC. Rank determines what category you will be in on the left hand of the pay scale (Pte, Corporal A, Corporal B, Sergeant, etc) Incentive Pay Category (IPC) refers to the Time in that particular pay grade. so you could be Pte (b) at...

Reserve BMQ/SQ not being accepted to full force?

I was just wondering since I did my BMQ through the NavRes, and I have never heard of it being divided in 3 parts...there was no option to do it in Mods. And yes you are right, if you ONLY do Army Res BMQ+SQ...and no other days....it most likely won't be accepted as reg force equiv

Monthly Pay after deductions - Questions [Merged]

as Pte...there are I believe 3 Incentive Pay categories, so its not guaranteed you are at 105$ per day...these are approximations, IPC1= 80$ per day, IPC2= 90$ per day, IPC3= 105$ per day. to figure out your pay, look at your message, your unit should give you some kind of joining instruction...

    Reserves

From what I recall you don't need a component transfer to go from Militia to Naval reserves...you do an Occupational transfer...component would be from Reserves to Suppres or Reg Force, or CIC. Not from one reserve to another, much less if you are doing the same trade. I could be wrong, but...

    Promotions in the CAF [Merged]

You're speaking of the Air reserves it sounds like, and well honestly, they are in their own space, i've talked to pers from that area before, and I know of only 1 Unit (in Truro, NS) that hire off Civvi street, all the other units i've spoken to, only hire prior reg force QL3 trained pers. So...

    Promotions in the CAF [Merged]

Just wondering why you can't see a trade qualified pte/cpl working class b 1 year or more??  you see this quite often in the Naval and Air Reserves...quite common to see pers getting class B contracts for 1-3 years with possibility to extend...is hits not possible to work full time in the Militia?

Reserve BMQs not running in summer?

Gotta admit the way they have training setup in the army reserves, is probably THE main reason I didn't join them, and went to another reserve

Primary Leadership Qualification Course (PLQ) Mega thread

So with all that being said, why are the reserves so separate and distinct almost to the point of being their own branches, as opposed to the Reg force where you don't that. Has there ever been talk of making all reserves standards the same?

Primary Leadership Qualification Course (PLQ) Mega thread

Just wanted clarification since the militia run on different systems then NavRes and Air Reserves. Classic example is BMQ militia = 4 weeks, NavRes/Air Reserves BMQ = same as reg force, same case with QL1/QL3 courses, the militia seems to have all their courses based on 4 weeks schedules. If...

Primary Leadership Qualification Course (PLQ) Mega thread

So read through the whole thread, just wondering what the news is on this, still have the 3 or 4 different standards...or what? And what would be the difference for Navy pers vs AF vs Army? sorry to ask its just confusing reading the army stuff since you're reserve and reg system and standards...

    Crossfit & the CF

First off BZ to Soldier1st, for the explanation earlier in the thread, read through the whole thing, and damn is it nice to see someone else with that kind of understanding, who will vocalize it. And yes I do agree in general the Crossfit workouts lean more towards aerobic, in that you are not...
