Plenty of RCAF units fly RW and FW under the same banner.  If 427 absorbs the Beechcraft, it won’t be ground breaking.

If the CAF loses the SAR role to an outside agency (ie CCG) you can expect the aircraft and funding to go with it.  Yellow Cormorants get painted CCG red, RCAF aircrew become unionized CCG aircrew with overtime!

Cormorant has been put into the back of a C-17 at least once - it flew down to South America. Contacts at IMP divulge that the capability to do it again has expired and substantial effort would be required to make it happen.

Concur - I believe divesting that capability is what funds the extra PYs for FWSAR.

How is that unlike what we currently do? 

No trained crews to fly them.  It will be be some time before we are able to fight this aircraft operationally.  All part of the plan to replace them, it just takes more than just rubber on the tarmac.

As already stated - RegF units have L101 money, this cannot be used to fund a Class A.  Your gaining unit isn’t expecting you to hit the ground running, reach out to them and organize a suitable RFD followed by an actual reasonable timeline of  in-clearance and relocation leave. More details as...

You would need to get an Air Factor for your CAF medical and see if your HT medically excludes you from achieving that AF.
