Opinion piece by Mr. Don Martin. I totally agree with him.
In Justin Trudeau’s rapidly imploding world, everything sucks.
In a rare moment of reality-reflecting candour, the usually-scripted prime minister said as much to the New York Times last week.
“It really sucks right now. Like...
Canada’s push to axe $1B from military budget for savings will impact security: defence chief
Trudeau said Canada will never meet NATO military spending target, leaked intel claims
NDP against Canada increasing defence spending to hit 'arbitrary' NATO target

What I am constantly surprised are the seemingly continual string of failures by the fed gov't.
Are the staffers and bureaucrats not doing their work in warning and protecting the leader? Are the staff and bureaucrats incompetent? Are they just sycophants? Are the responsible ones still...
MND Blair is now saying the following:
Defence Minister Bill Blair insisted Friday afternoon that any spending cuts would not impact frontline units
“Canada’s defence spending has increased year after year under our government. That spending growth will continue. We’re reviewing spending to...
I think that MND Blair is referring to the fact that Fed gov't is trying to use creative accounting / labelling to try to make it look like there is an increase to the Defence budget. For example: military to UKR, humanitarian funding to UKR; humanitarian aid to other foreign countries - effort...
From the Canadian War Museum with regards to the Stetson.
Canada & The South African War, 1899-1902
Uniforms & Equipment
The Stetson Hat
Except for Canada's First Contingent, which wore cork helmets, the Stetson was issued to all Canadian units sent to South Africa. It became the piece of...
When I much younger I had the opportunity to participate in the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Parliament. We wore bearskin hats, high collared red woollen tunics and pants. On a really hot humid day the sweat would drip off the back of our bearskins onto the back of the tunic leaving long...
Interesting new reporting about the much anticipated Defence Review which was announced 18 months ago
With regards to the defence review, Mr. Blair said:
it is a priority and is being staffed along with the Dept of Finance
important decisions must be made beforehand
will work towards...
Since when does logic comes into play when traditions and heritage are involved - in this case the RCAF traditional rank and insignia? Who cares if Wing Commander doesn't command Wings. The RAF, RAAF, RNZAF and other British Commonwealth countries are carrying on with it :giggle:
I once saw a USAF Maj's patent shoe literally disintegrate as he smartly marched way during his promotion ceremony to LCol. It was funny as you can literally follow the trail of black material to his cubical, like Hansel and Gretel in the forest.
As a former NCO, it makes me shudder at the thought of having Officers fumble about trying to salute while carrying a riding crop or swagger stick. It was hard enough to get them to march properly and coordinate them to swing their arms without doing the bear walk.
I have no idea of how authoritative this website is but mentions the colour of berets worn by the Canadian Army commencing in 1951.
A series of coloured berets was introduced in 1951, following the announcement of Adjutant General Instruction 507/1951 dated 24 Oct 51...
Overall it looks good and is a step in the right direction.
In the British Army, the Officers and the CWOs wear brown shoes and the others wears black ankle boots. Will they do that here?
Will the socks change to brown?
Will they change the sweater to brown?
Will they change the gloves to...
There is supposed to be a Guardian Guru at each unit, usually it is the Chief Clerk (C Clk) or the person who is responsible for monitoring and tracking positions in your unit. They can probably hep you.
I believe that the handwriting is on the wall for the LPC and CPC. Both parties will try to prove themselves as the best financial management experts to reduce gov't spending, reduce the public debt, climate change and giving Canadians the "hard reality." Once gov't spending is under control...
Also, don't think that you can maintain the same high performance standard playing sports with 20 year olds. The Army plays a lot of sports and like @Haggis mentioned you don't recover as fast and your body is not as supple as 20-30 year olds. I'm not saying don't play sports with them, but...
