    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

George pretty much hit on all the points I would have said, but I'll elaborate on my initial points - There are many things working in the military (may) cause you to give up - The forums are filled with examples of where the line is between the military/civilian professions.  There are also...

    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

In fairness, there is a significant amount of "office" work in an officer's career but every Officer's career path is going to look different then the next - both inside a occupation and between occupations.  Members are moved to different positions every 2-3 years (usually).  Sometimes the...

Good to know - it has changed in the last few years.  Thanks for the info!

Questions regarding future enrollment as Aerospace Engineering Officer

Most military members are either still on holidays or are just getting off them - thus the lack of "activity" in the CAF recruiter thread.

Questions regarding future enrollment as Aerospace Engineering Officer

Currently I'm a first year engineering student at the University of Manitoba, and as a potential career option (upon graduation), I was considering joining the Canadian Forces through Direct Entry as (hopefully) an Aerospace Engineering Officer. I have some questions, regarding not so much the...

    Anyone else suck at drill?

Don't overthink - react.  Trying to anticipate what the next command or when it will come tends to mess people up.  Worked for some. OR You just need to practice more.  Personal drill is like everything else drill - if you do it often enough, it eventually becomes muscle memory.

    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

ETIS already made the point for me - The point wasn't to target your ethical fiber, but to point out how a lack of fitness can be perceived.  Age plays very little into how you are perceived if you are competent and capable - I had the pleasure of finishing a challenging course with a 53 year...

    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

It's been a few years, but my understanding is the benchmarks of the EXPRES test are gone.  The FORCE test is all that remains to institutionally "assess" fitness. To Macseh:  Brasidas is completely correct in what a lack of fitness means to a candidate.  In my opinion (and stressing this is my...

Marks / Grades: School / GED or PLAR [MERGED]

What are you trying to do - Apply as an NCM? Regular officer training program? Difficult to make a comment when we have no idea what you are trying to apply for. Bottom line - Yes, your marks will be considered when you apply.  You likely already know this.  Go talk to the recruiters and find out!

easier to get into the forces on the east coast?

With a bit more detail: Some trades are national for recruitment, others are specific to region (As in a certain number is allocated to each geographic region, etc) - You'd need to speak with the recruiters in order to find out the specifics of how the breakdown works for your respective trade...

    After BMQ - PAT [Merged]

While the experience was "easy" for you, it will entirely depend on the CoC involved, circumstances, and a whole host of other variables.  For everyone that finds it easy, there is a fair number who unfortunately did not.  In contrast - I had a friend (Armoured) who was injured but ultimately...

    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

I really did take your point exactly as you intended (ETIS) - Was thinking of a few WO's who'd be happy to have caught me with that one. (Grins) I genuinely had no idea regarding the Musician trade, so I looked into it to find out - turns out its not QUITE as easy as applying to be an NCO, even...

    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

If you are going to point out the technicality (which is not entirely true), we should probably consider the context as well (using the resource you provided): "After 6 months, Once all required training is complete, you are promoted to the rank of Sergeant, which is the base working rank for...

    Paid Education [Merged]

While the advice given by both BorisK and CombatMacguyver may or may not address your specific questions (and for some NCM occupational trades you DO require civilian pre-reqs - IE specific high school courses), you did ask this in a CAF recruiter forum to get an official response.  BorisK is...

(Groan) I knew someone would hit me with that one.  We might yet again give the impression that people can apply to be NCOs!

Mariomike is already giving you plenty of places to find answers (looking around on this forum will answer all of these).  Take a look for your answers and you'll find quite a bit of information you likely haven't even thought about yet. I'll leave it at a personal opinion and let you find...

    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

As a general rule, most of the training is very similar between BMQ and BMOQ (There are some additional leadership aspects taught and expected to demonstrate, etc).  The threads you were suggested to look at give a pretty good base of understanding, but I'll add my two cents: PT will look very...

Picture frames @ BMQ (yes, enough for a merged topic)

You will have far more pressing concerns at BMQ then picture orientations. Seriously. A good portion of people didn't have a picture at all when they arrived.  Outside of the occasional harassment regarding it, it made not a single bit of difference if they passed or not. Bring two pictures...

Monthly Pay after deductions - Questions [Merged]

I was pointing out how different pay can be for each person.  Mine factored in PLD for Vancouver and the lack of paying R/Q due to being common-law.  As noted in the original post, there are many variables that make the question difficult to answer (and everyone's answer will be different)
