    Milnet.ca Medic Q&A

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you on this. I'd run across some of these trials before during searches, and perhaps I need to take a closer look at them, as I'm not sure I'm convinced about them. Perhaps more tellingly, neither are the designers of the Resuscitation Outcome Consortium...

    The Manley Panel on Afghanistan

This jumped out at me: Last time I checked, the Senlis Country Director for Afghanistan was Ed McCormick, a BC Ambulance Service Paramedic. He's also the one who wrote a very scathing piece on CF Medical Service's neglect of Mir Wais, while we staffed the Role 3 "just down the road", and...

    The "Nursing Officer" Merged Thread

There are very few flt medics or flt nurses in the HS Res; most have come from the Reg F. Even those who have extensive civi air-evac time have been required to complete the CF Aeromedical Evac Courses; I've got a Res Medic/Flight EMT-P working for me now who is currently freezing his soft...

    Chiropractor in Petawawa

With regards to the coverage, I believe you need a referral from a MO to see one...many physicians are fairly skeptical of the benefits of Chiro, but there are some who are fully on board.  If this guy's both an MD and Chiro, you're probably more likely to get a referral.  I know in the last...

So what does that mean for you guys at 192? Back to a FES, or perhaps the ESS?

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

I think it's a slightly lighter material then that one   >:D It's a slightly lighter material, some of the internal layout of the pockets is different, and the spare canister is held internally (with no little external access flap) with an elastic strap.  The waistbelt is fastex, and it has a...

We got ours yesterday...and what a fine piece of kit it is, too.

    Milnet.ca Medic Q&A

Could you please cite a source for this (esp the need to resus the interstitial)? There's several threads that this might be more appropriate for this discussion (such as http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/23137.0.html or http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/59238.0.html) but this is news to...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

HSS Coy got the same direction (no non-issue kit) today.  The specific items mentioned were vests, eyewear, and boots.  Then we were told to bring it anyway, and squirrel it away for outside the wire or after the change of command midway through the deployment.

Medical Technician ( Med Tech )

Southern Boy, there was a recent trial of direct entry SAR for civi Paramedics...I don't know how it's going (I suspect the first class are still in tng) but I do know offers were made to several BCAS BLS and ALS paramedics.  I don't know of any who accepted the offer (the pay cut and posting...

Class B outside of your Command

Off topic, but that's probably related to http://www.oag-bvg.gc.ca/domino/reports.nsf/html/20071004c_e.html and perhaps more specifically 4.57 Less than 1 percent of the medical technicians and physician assistants who responded to our survey fully met their maintenance of clinical skills...

Drug use/drug testing in the CF (merged)

The random nature of the testing, as well as the manner in which it's conducted, would make most of the means of faking it impractical.  Having been through three in the past 7 months, you don't know when it's happening, you show up for something, the RSM says into the classroom, and off you...

    CF Housing for Reserve Soldiers?

No. In some locations, where there are adequate numbers of Q's, there are reservists living in. For the most part, Res F mbrs live on the economy, unless they're on Cl B or C away from their home units, i.e. on course or tasking away from home. PMQ and SQ are in short supply in many parts of...

    Task Force 3-09

] Knowing the driver of that particular veh, and the others attached to the organization, they have all expressed concerns about the amount of driving time.  Without getting into specifics, the equipment shortfalls were likely major contributors to the incident, but not the only ones. PMT

    Task Force 3-09

If that can be done independant of the TF standing up, great.  I know the 11 months that those drivers have been in Edm is a source of major dissatisfaction, which may have adverse effects down the road. Telling them they need a year in the hatch to deploy, and then having not spent any time...
