    DNR Order

Writing from the Roll  Multinational Med Unit (1-08) in Wx on Ex Maple Guardian...the Assistant TF surgeon and I had a conversation on this the other day...he has urged all his troops to have both advanced directives and to be organ donors, as we desire.  An advanced directive is one term for a...

CF Using FAST1 Intraosseous Infusion System in AFG

CF Using FAST1 Intraosseous Infusion System in AFG

Perhaps that's a better way of putting it...not usefull for CF medics. I've gone through 3 of their little gear leashes in the last 6 months, one jammed, one cracked, and one had the little 'leash' part fail. We've tried their K Sling several times during predeployment, with less then stellar...

CF Using FAST1 Intraosseous Infusion System in AFG

Hmmmm, so all those ITLS courses that included FAST or other IO access didn't happen?    ::) It's not new, it's not revolutionary, and CTOMS, while they market some good stuff, are also selling the CF a lot of shite.

FLASH! - Aussies in 4 hr battle with Taliban

Sounds like the best possible outcome;  Timmy attacks, and dies.  None of the friendlies hurt  :salute: BZ to the Aussie soldiers.

    Non-Effective Strength (NES): Minimum Attendance

Now, that's the way it's SUPPOSED to work, however several areas I've worked have had huge unresolved backlogs of NES pers.  It's one of the Adm worlds priorities to clean it up, but that's not the way it has actually worked in many places.  Releasing someone 5(F) is not as easy as the clerks...

    Non-Effective Strength (NES): Minimum Attendance

Are you NES or being released NES?  Two different things. Many units will allow you to resume parading, after a stern talking to and perhaps a recorded warning (or whatever it is now).  The time that you were deemed NES won't be credited towards CD, pension, or promotion time.  BUT, many CO has...

QL3 course, what are these rumours?

As far as I know there is one other PCP program in BC, very new, and I also believe the jury's still out on their product.  I'd be very surprised if they'd even had anyone through licensing as yet.

Where are the new jump bags?

A follow up to the previous pics: There is PALS/MOLLE on the sides of the packs, but not the outer face.  Given the "depth" of the things, I'm not so sure that's a bad idea. The top pic shows the SOTech, the bottom shows both side by side.

    Emergency Medical Response Team (EMRT)

NoNeck, along with several other specialty squads, BC Amb is planning to stand up a TEMS unit in the lower mainland.  I was approached by clinical tng before I left town about a TCCC provider course.  Whether the PDs will utilize it remains to be seen, and what the team will be composed of is...

Embed Reporters Now Need Dog Tags, First Aid Training

If you're talking about a Canadian, you're talking about MCpl Paul Franklin and his wife, Audra. While you're aware that things can happen, very few troops or their families have any real concept that "they" as individuals are at risk.  In the same vein that although hundreds of Canadians are...

    Emergency Medical Response Team (EMRT)

I've spoken to some of them in BC. They run an in-house program, about 100 hours or so from what I gathered, it sounds like EMR with an ITLS skill set for the most part.  I recall it's all serving RCMP members, sort of like a PCF course.

Thanks George, I was replying to GreyMatter's comment above.  ::) I've got a pretty good idea why we wear id disks.

If helmets and body armour aren't getting them tagged as soldiers, I doubt ID disks will. And besides, if Timmy Taliban has him close enough to be stripping him, it's probably over anyway.

    Camelbak. Where to purchase?

Then I have to say I'm even more surprised, I've packed (and abused) nalgene products for over 20 years, and except for hot water in the non-lexan bottles, never had an issue with them. I saw the outer fill-port and thought the only people who used that were Camelback. I've got and love...

    Camelbak. Where to purchase?

Flawed, what broke? The bladder's are probably made by Camelback, so you can't really hold CP gear responsible for the odd run of crap from a well known and respected supplier. Was it the carriers?  That you could probably lay at CP Gear's door. As well, when was this?  I've been pretty...
