QL3 course, what are these rumours?

The contract for the training was tendered some time ago; I have not seen it so this is just more grist for the rumour mill. It has been circulating here in BC that there were geographic limits placed on where the training could occur, which precluded the JIBC from bidding on the project. ...

    Bias

I was very surprised the first time I attended a health care symposium where full disclosure as to speaker's ties to products and organizations was disclosed...Here's a brilliant surgeon, who's just finished a really great lecture on something or other...and there he goes at the end with a...

    O'Conner on his way out?

I suspect you're right, he's almost completely untainted (I believe he spent some time on the board of a defence-related corporation), has no lobbying history, highly respected by his troops, a published author, a very credible talking head in the MSM...too bad internal politics will probably...

    O'Conner on his way out?

I thought he'd gone on record several times rejecting a run as a CPC candidate...or did those all predate the latest incarnation?

    Dr. Kevin Patterson- The Article

Not completely on topic here, but an excellent clearinghouse of information on the various pieces of privacy legislation is Privacylawyer.ca I know he's done a fair amout of work with the CMA, CMPA and various provincial bodies, as well as international privacy law. PMT

Anybody heard of this?  I'm being loaded on it in September-October, and I don't even know what it is;  I suspect it's the new Trauma Team program, but I'm not sure. Bueller?  Bueller?  8) DF

    What is your military status?

RG, I've seen you on here the past couple of nights; welcome to Army.ca. It's always nice to get an opinion from our allies on here, keeps the gene pool from getting to inbred  ;D A little word of advice though: stop with the MSN speak; it not only contravenes the site usage guidelines set...

    Dr. Kevin Patterson- The Article

I agree an academic article should probably come out of his (and others) stays in K'Har;  This is a human interest story, much as TLC's "Tales of the ER" is as much a human interest story as a look at the weird and wonderful stuff that comes through the doors. As to the MMU being a "shack"...

    Dr. Kevin Patterson- The Article

Very well written. Could he have told it without the name or nationality?  Absolutely, but putting a name and a face to the account makes it that much harder hitting, brings it home: these are young Canadians, from small communities, in the service of their country.  They're your neighbors...

    Deployment question for LEO's...

Well not specific to LEO, the matter of non-isue sidearms has been raised before (incl with 1-08).  With very few (read CSOR) exceptions, the answer has been no.

    Med Bag

SMMT: Agreed on both counts, but if Matt wants to devote corporate time and effort to build the "perfect" dismount bag, I'm willing to put my .02 in, it may turn out to be MY "perfect" bag  ;D We don't all have the resources you do!

    Med Bag

Last I saw, we had three or four different flavours of bag avail to us for 1-08, troops are trying them out during work-ups. It's not just a matter of finding a bag that's comfy to pack around, we need to validate loads against likely tasks so the troops know what they'll need in their packs...

    Med Bag

MT, I'm pretty sure I know the bag the "2VP one" carried (STOMP II) , and it's not bad...for certain applications, but far too large for others, leading to the carriage of a lot of the aforementioned crap, and from what the troops told me, doesn't seem to cinch down terribly well when partially...

Trying to start a reserve unit

I think Chinese, Sikh, and Aboriginal units have all been on the table at one time or another....all with the same results. Of course, this just after the grownups have announced we don't need any more units in the CF, which I have to agree with until we can get the existing ones up to strength...

    Med Bag

Matt, I've been thinking of this topic for some time (about 15 years or so!!) and I'm not sure where to go with it...the variation between different medical missions, scopes of practice, duration of care, not to mention the individual medics themselves means you're biting off a pretty big chunk...
