Not completely on topic here, but an excellent clearinghouse of information on the various pieces of privacy legislation is Privacylawyer.ca I know he's done a fair amout of work with the CMA, CMPA and various provincial bodies, as well as international privacy law. PMT

Very well written. Could he have told it without the name or nationality?  Absolutely, but putting a name and a face to the account makes it that much harder hitting, brings it home: these are young Canadians, from small communities, in the service of their country.  They're your neighbors...

Well not specific to LEO, the matter of non-isue sidearms has been raised before (incl with 1-08).  With very few (read CSOR) exceptions, the answer has been no.

Last I saw, we had three or four different flavours of bag avail to us for 1-08, troops are trying them out during work-ups. It's not just a matter of finding a bag that's comfy to pack around, we need to validate loads against likely tasks so the troops know what they'll need in their packs...

MT, I'm pretty sure I know the bag the "2VP one" carried (STOMP II) , and it's not bad...for certain applications, but far too large for others, leading to the carriage of a lot of the aforementioned crap, and from what the troops told me, doesn't seem to cinch down terribly well when partially...

I think Chinese, Sikh, and Aboriginal units have all been on the table at one time or another....all with the same results. Of course, this just after the grownups have announced we don't need any more units in the CF, which I have to agree with until we can get the existing ones up to strength...

Matt, I've been thinking of this topic for some time (about 15 years or so!!) and I'm not sure where to go with it...the variation between different medical missions, scopes of practice, duration of care, not to mention the individual medics themselves means you're biting off a pretty big chunk...
