RCAF cites "Labour Shortage" In Hiring Foreign Pilots

the irony of a guy who immigrated to Canada complaining about the foreign worker program... (Gilles Hudicourt, the pilot quoted in the CBC article) http://ca.linkedin.com/pub/gilles-hudicourt/41/358/59a

Ottawa area training exercise explosion injures police officers, paramedics

May they have a quick and full recovery. Lots of question in my mind though. Foremost, why were the paramedics so close to the explosives? They shouldn't have been anywhere near the exp prep area or the stack IMO. Will be interesting to see the results of the investigation. Chimo!

    favorite marching cadences!

WINGS ... your argument is invalid!! CHIMO! However, we did sing the Engineer song in Chilliwack at CFSME, the yellow bird in Pet and the Mikey mouse one in Edmonton...  ;-) We didn't sing about the Arty, we just painted the privates of the horse blue...

Announcing the Battle Procedure Aide Memoire for iPhone/iPad

I would like to help but at the moment I'm pretty busy with AOC. Downloaded the toolkit but haven't done much hacking yet; maybe in August.

Announcing the Battle Procedure Aide Memoire for iPhone/iPad

BP is a tool that is used by leadership at all levels to ensure that operations are planned and conducted in as efficient and effective manner as possible;  as all situations differ from one another, so will your application of BP - time and resources are the biggest factors. Either way is fine...

    New Israeli Approach to War?

That quote has no explicit or implicit call of illegal activity. One can sow terror, butcher and bolt all within the LOAC except maybe by not wearing uniforms or id. BTW, my grandfather was an instructor there... Chimo!

CFRG and the broken recruiting system-Split

We actually had more trained ppl who, after a while, got busy with a new job, moved away, family, etc. and never showed up again. In the last couple of years we cleaned up and are getting the spots filled quite nicely. Chimo!

    What knife would you recommend?

:goodpost: I bothers me how some young soldiers spend their hard-earned small pay checks on expensive knives and LCF kit to then misuse it, wreck it or lose it; but, I guess it's part of the learning process...

COS Land Strat: New "Army Int Reg't", more simulators coming

I think it is a good concept to augment our int capabilities. The issue is how it gets implemented. Like the total force, 10/90 Bn - the ideas are sound, the implementation and management not so much.

    More Specific Questions..

As Capt Happy said, hard to see how the cuts will affect training and tasks but the following is an average schedule (if you are not on a career course): winter:  1 or 2 weeks away spring ex: 3 weeks spring task: 2 wks summer tasks: maybe 2 x 2 wks fall ex: 3 wks fall task: 2 wks individual trg...

Combat Team of tomorrow? Mechanized Infantry Company of tomorrow?

This, imho, is also as a result of the spanking the IDF got last time in S. Lebanon - it was not the walk in the park that was expected.

DND IT takes a great leap forward

Most of you guys are arguing about symptoms and not addressing the root problem: lack of unified IT policy and focus. With focus I'm not talking about the IT org  not being customer oriented, rather the user requirements when specifying a system not clearly articulated and not guided by a...

Better system instead of Cl A pay sheets

Monitor MASS, MM... There, I feel better now :-) In my unit we are trying to use MM for capturing pretty much everything. All the Sect Comd and up and most of the 2i/c have had trgand have access to it (not all at the same time unfortunately). However, pay still requires signature and therefore...

Army Junior Staff Officer (AJSO) Course

if it shows in your profile as completed then it should be available - perhaps is something not yet uploaded. Perhaps it is sent to your unit for your OC/DCO/CO to administer. What I do know is that on completion it is up to your OC/DCO/CO to inform them of whether you pass or fail.

    The State of Army Doctrine

:goodpost: ... a baseline for common understanding but not a ready-made structure for our templating by the enemy. I would add, regarding the ME, It definitely makes sense to identify the task and unit/sub-unit; but at the very least the actual task for situations where you have a unit with a...
