The way it is written it looks like three tours, I thought the samething. One article says task force 3 08 which was sometime at the end of 2008 to sometime in 2009 which I believe was 3 RCR. Now after that Vandoos then the Patricia went. Sometime in 2010 i believe 1RCR went over. So to me he...
The math is what got me. While I do know a few guys that did multiple tours none did three years in a row. What he did a tour in 2008 came home straight to 6 months work up training for the next tour in 2009 to do it over again for 2010. Is it even possible to do three straight tours year after year
Lightfighter is bang on. Get your capbadge with some time in the regiment. I have nothing much more to add just wanted you to know what lightfighter said is a way a lot of my friends and me felt about a regiment tattoo
When I got the book it was because I wanted to know about the road project that the movie seem to focus on. Like I said in my last post the book was nothing much about the struggles of building the road, the road is already build by the start of the story. So in that aspect you might be...
Just finished reading Hyena road. To me it's American sniper meets lone survivor. The book wasn't about the road so much as it was about political power in kandahar.
Download the book hyhena road last night.
In to chapter three, I am enjoying the book itself just not sure if it going to tell us what it was like over there. I think the book and the movie will be enjoyable I hope after it comes out people don't start to talk like they know all about it because...
I had a buddy in the Highlanders that I work with in field training in Wainwright tell me they wanted to send a company to Afghanistan, here is an article...
He has 33 kills in one day hey. It's funny I heard people that lie like this often retell stories they read. The reason why 33 stood out for me because in 2009 in Helmand an US army Ranger Nick Irving had 33 kills in just over 4 months. They nick named him the reaper. They made a big deal out of...
I can tell you a lot of privates and corporals I knew were into computer games. Did they lose interest in them when they became a NCO?, nope. I would not be shy about telling anyone in the military (if he/she asks) what your interests are.
Ok the article says only 5 in 10 served in Afghanistan. What about the guys that served in Bosnia or anywhere else for that matter. They saw things too. So out of the 5 that did not go to Afghanistan, did they serve somewhere else and be affected by thier expierence?
I like watching Shipley's videos. It's funny because the most common way he calls fakes out is he asks for their BUD class numbers. Every single one has failed. I guess every Navy Seal has to go through BUDS training and you forgetting your class number is like a woman forgetting her maiden name.
So I am at work and helping a contractor load his truck. Somehow we get talking about how he is from Ontario and he has worked with a lot of Newfoundlanders. He starts to tell me how he love to go to Newfoundland small out port and get into a fight. He thinks if he goes to Newfoundland and the...
I found this online http://www.familyforce.ca/sites/Edmonton/EN/Documents/The%20Bottom%20Line%20on%20Severance%20PayV4.pdf. It says if a part-time soldier who was continuously enrolled and worked 60 days a year for 8 years will now earn 8 years' worth of benefits: 7 days of pay x 8 years. So if...
Instead of talking to a recruiter and trying to find out if you have to go away, why don't you talk to your boss about getting time off for training. The way I see it you have a working relationship with your civilian boss, so communicate with him. The reserves have specific course dates...
Also its not black and white, while you can support some things, I think not only myself has reservations that aspects of Afghanistan were not the ideals that Canada or Canadians aspire to, and much was learned.
Can you explain that statement?
