Also, what pace do you guys go at for your pushups? I tend to do mine very slowly and concentrate a lot on going low...Is it neccessairy to return with your arms straight, and elbows locked?

Yeah, you'll pick it up as you go on. But then again, there are some abbreviations and terms that come from nowhere, and some acronyms that you'll never be able to figure out.

I'm having a difficult time keeping my elbows in towards my ribs...any suggestions that might help me out? I can do around 20 regular wide grip pushups, but when it comes time to put my hands under my shoulders, and keep the elbows in, I can only do three. Maybe I'm just not strong enough yet!
I thought that there was three different ways to do your pushups? Oh well, looks like I've been doing them incorrectly! I still have to wait for my recruiting officer to get off leave so that I can hand my papers in...this sucks. Congrats on passing!
Try doing a bit of swimming, and some more stretches to loosen your arms and shoulders up. Your stomach muscles play a role in pushups too, so don't forget about them!
