I know they are Commando trained - I was just pointing out the jobs they had and the fact that they would not normally be expected to carry out this sort of task

Need some history: Brockville Rifles..Anyone help?

We in the UK had similar experiences where well known TA infantry regiments were converted to LAA/Searchlight regiments and only saw home service. Its a shame that new conscript regiments couldn't have been formed so that the iheritage and nfantry skills base wasn't lost.

Winter Warriors - Across Bosnia with the PBI 1995/96

I asked for my battalions war diary for Bosnia under an FOI but was told that it will remain secret for 30 years - to varify facts and put events in a chronological order I had to rely on my memory and the memories of a few former comrades. All I wanted to do was make sure I didn't mix up events...

Death Traps; The Survival of an American Armored Division in World War Two

wasn't one Sherman per troop a Firefly with the British 17 pounder gun? More than a match for the Mk4, Panther & Tiger. Also, don't forget the Germans were usually hull down or in prepared positions where they sprung ambushes so it wouldn't have mattered too much if both sides had identical...
