Any purples have done their naval training prior to a ship posting?

Thanks for the replies, did not know the NETP expires after 2 years. And so far, I haven't met a qualified navy Comm Rsch in Kingston, the other navy guys asked to be posted at a home unit during their waiting period. Thanks again, food for the thought for my field trip this week (last week of...

Any purples have done their naval training prior to a ship posting?

I really want to do the naval training during my waiting period before my phase 2 (Comm Rsch). A lot (if not everyone) of people said you need to be posted to a ship before doing the training... but anyone ever asked to get it without a posting first?

Minimum Medical Standards - Updated 2 Feb 2010?

Let's just say it wasn't part of my top 10 options. It all depends on if I can get my naval training before being qualified or posted on a ship. I'll consult when I get back to Kingston after BMQ-L (SQ) and see what opportunities are available. The PDF that was available is now 404, and it...

Minimum Medical Standards - Updated 2 Feb 2010?

Hey guys, I was looking for the minimum medical standards when I found the CFHS's website with what seems to be updated standards... can someone in the know confirm that these are the latest standards? A LOT of careers are now V4 rather than V3... *jumps*...

    Applied to the Navy

Scheduled to go do SQ on March 11th in Valcartier! I'll be missing the next Phase 1 which starts around March 11th... adding a couple of months of waiting. During my initial interview at CFSCE, the Sergeant suggested we try to get me in a Bsc degree with the ILP program. I'll also be able to...

    Applied to the Navy

I made it out of St-Jean alive! Graduated Thursday, parade was nice, messed up during the first right alignment, only my staff noticed... Thank God  :-X CFB Kingston looks great so far, food is better, there aren't 11 floors to walk up to your room, buildings are all close to another (except...

    Basic Up

English isn't my native language, maybe the message didn't pass well. What I meant was, don't try to go around the platoons' rules; don't use a second kit, hide electronics, etc. Personally, I read everything on Army.ca and Basic Up before going to Basic, and in the end, beside inspections...

:threat:

    Basic Up

I wouldn't want to rain on anyone's parade, but the Basic UP series aren't to be taken too seriously. Personally, I watched them before my basic, and boy was it a let down once I started mine. Even a "hell" platoon is not as hard *** as the videos'. Honestly, staff lost _a lot_ of rights over...

    Comm Research

Yeah, I guess I would have time and money to do a university degree (one-two course at a time) ... So the security clearance they made me fill on week X of BMQ for "top secret" clearance is not being processed yet, they took prints and references NOW, but I'll have to submit new ones in...

    Comm Research

Gawd, I'm really starting to wonder if I made the right choice... I love the fact that I'll be doing SQ and possibly naval training in the future, but is Comm Rsch worth the wait (courses+security clearance)? I keep hearing it's a great job, but how can my career make any progress if I'll be...

    Anger management and patience

Anyone else noticed their patience is much shorter now that they're military? Or that it gets harder to manage their anger? Any tips on how to work those aspects of life? Before the army, I was a perfectionist, but now it's at a whole new level... I can't stand eating with people (other than...

    Applied to the Navy

So after 4 days, I got onto a platoon! Survived WFT!  ::) wasn't that big of a deal in the end...  :salute: So I'll be graduating beginning of February! FINALLY. Can't wait for the Christmas break, have to unwind from all that AWT/WFT business...  :-X I'll have to write an essay on AWT/WFT  ;)

    Applied to the Navy

I'm now on WFT3, waiting for a platoon week 10-11. Have done a 13km march on base, and several 6.4km... am in the best shape of my life! I won't lie, I'm not happy about being on WFT, but it has its upsides (no inspections, no taskings, 2 pts per day)... scared to injure myself (so many...

    BMQ St-Jean

Bring your mp3 player. As for the laptop, I'ld bring it only if you have games on it, but the mess has several computers with internet access, movie theaters, alcool  ;), consoles, big tvs and pool... plus you can go to the gym and the pool on week-ends. On the AWT, a lot of people have that...

Any of you guys know if there will be a course phase 1 (just out of BMQ) in January? or is it in 2011?

    Applied to the Navy

Quick update. I'm now on the AWT, because of my back. Haven't done a complete physio exam yet (coming this week), but it looks like it could be the cervical area that is the culprit (bad disks?). To sum it up, I have 60 days to get back on week 11 otherwise I'll have to start on week 1..  >:(...
