Video of Mini-guns aboard Helo's being used (Awesome)

Big rounds, high velocity.. I don't think they'd NEED to be explosive..

    What is your military status?

Was R648 in the Airfield Engineers since 97, retired (felt strange to 'retire' from something at 24) as a MCpl in Aug 04, next day signed on the dotted line to be OCdt and now going through university in Victoria in the ROTP program. Currently CELE but trying to transfer to 46 AE. Chimo!

Looking for - CADPAT Private Epaulets

Are we still due for those great blue t-shirts too? That way the Army can laugh at as from even FARTHER away! "Yep he's Air Force alright, blue beret AND t-shirt! Let's get 'em boys!"

    Construction Technician (merged)

My old trade, how I miss thee! Actually it's a pretty good trade, although as a civil engineer you might be slightly overqualified. I was with an Airfield Engineering unit for 7 years but I got attached to 1 CER to go to Kosovo, so it is an interesting mix of the Air Force and the Army.. Plus...

Looking for - CADPAT Private Epaulets

I think the concern is more over someone wearing a uniform and rank that they are not entitled to. Wear the CADPAT, sure. But no rank until it's earned. edit: (Ha, too slow, Inch beat me to it..)

    ROTP Air Force Specifics

Finish your degree, apply as a Direct Entry Officer. You might be entitled to a signing bonus (not sure how much but it would probably make a huge dent in your student loan), and you'll be commissioned as a 2Lt right away. Go to the CF recruiting website and check out the entry plans.. There are...

    Aerospace Engineer (AERE)

Do your research, there are a lot of air trades that will take mechanical engineers. If you want you can be an Aerospace Engineer, Airfield Engineer, or Communication Engineer. Check the recruiting website, all of the trades mention which degrees are allowed for each.

    How good is our training?

To comment from the Engineer side of the fence, I think we're doing quite well. My unit has had several deployments down to the US to work side by side with the Air National Guard units, and we've always surprised the heck out of our hosts. Our guys are highly cross-trained, and very resourceful...

    How good is our training?

I hate to tell you this but I've transfered weapons on several occasions, and we have never had to have a loaded pistol carried with them. It's one thing to post a guard, but we've never had armed pers guarding weapons.

    Writting off part of BOTC

Ok thanks for the info.. Now an update. I‘ve completed a RegF PLQ, and have been promoted to MCpl.. I was informed that I have been given an unconditional offer to join under ROTP at the University of Victoria MechEng program (schwing!).. I was told on the phone however that I was off to St Jean...

    Calling CFRC question.

I‘ve been going through CFRC for the last year straight trying to get into the ROTP program.. And calling is sometimes the only way to get information.. My file was apparently sent out to an early review board in January, and I was supposed to hear something in February (offers don‘t come until...

Quantity over Quality in the Reserves

Well even so, why do the regs do longer BMQs? I think that no matter what, the courses should all be up to the reg standard, and there is no reason why they can‘t be intermixed. We need people, especially now, but those people need to be properly trained. I‘ve always been proud of being...

Quantity over Quality in the Reserves

I‘m in the Air Reserves, and I‘ve worked 6 1/2 of my 7 years in on Class B or C. I‘ve been on tour, and all of my courses have been done with the Reg Force. I‘m proud to be a reservist, but it makes me sick when I go away and all I get is negative stories from Reg force guys who have worked with...

    Number Of Knifes Allowed

Why is it that some people have to carry twenty knives with them whereever you go? We laughed at the dorks who had six knives strapped to them at all times.. I carry a Leatherman (hate the gerber) for the plyers/wirecutters, screwdrivers, files and can openers (help my trade).. I also have the...

    Writting off part of BOTC

By the time I get to the BOTC point I will have completed a RegF PLQ, but what is the IAP? I am planning on going ROTP (I got in last year but my medical had to be re-reviewed and the results didn‘t come back in time). What is the standard proceedure? I was under the impression it was BOTC, then...

    Medals

My grandfather, probably like a lot of people‘s, served in the Second World War.. Now, he passed away about ten years ago, and although we (my mother and aunt) knew he had served, his medals had been taken by his son and pawned off a long time ago.. We had origionally thought that they were all...
