PSU WEAPON OF COICE (your input please)

I am curious about your choice of 40mm grenade to be used against swimmers and divers. The two versions of 40mm HE (HE/Frag & HEDP) grenades that are currently in service both use impact initiated fuzes. So firing these at divers, the grenade in theory would detonate on the waters surface...

Marks / Grades: School / GED or PLAR [MERGED]

I am not sure what the minimum requirement is now days for joining (and I haven't looked). I did not have high school when I joined and I have not had any problems. I did receive my GED several years after I joined (recommended and supported by my CoC). The only way it may affect you is if you...

    www.RamTank.ca is growing

Link works fine for me. I believe there was a Ram II recently recovered on a range in Borden last year. I will be back in Borden after the new year and will see what information and photos I can get.

    Double-axes?

Double axes should signify he was an Assault Pioneer. An infanteer with training in mine warfare, booby traps, demolitions, construction of field defenses, roadways, etc.

67 days away from my dream.

Minor bump in the road. I had a similar incident after I joined the army, which laid me up for awhile. My mistake was trying to get back to it too quickly and I did permanent damage, which eventually led to a medical remuster (change of trade). My advice, take it easy and take the time heal...

    Mortars: 51 mm, 60 mm, 81 mm, 120 mm & more

This appears to be a different item, the first one is a 60mm HE fitted with a Point Detonating Fuze, the second is the same 60mm HE cartridge but fitted with a proximity fuze. The difference in fuzes would explain the difference in price.

    Mortars: 51 mm, 60 mm, 81 mm, 120 mm & more

Not sure I fully follow the potatoes and gravy comments. If you look at the requirements for this contract and the specifications of the item itself compared to current service ammunition, I think you will see a significant difference.

    Special Leave Question

If you travel outside Canada and the US you have to complete an Intent to Travel form online. I don't have the link with me, but I can post it after I go back to work on Monday. I believe this is a new policy that came into effect 1 Jan 09.

    Catapult Aircraft Ejection Seat CF-18A/B

I have looked at several websites for ejection seat, CADs, decoy flares, chaff, etc. Some of the information is useful for general info and future trends, but we can not use this info for testing, homework assignments etc. The C-74 series pubs on CADs and PADs are so out of date, I am hoping to...

    Catapult Aircraft Ejection Seat CF-18A/B

No, sadly, teaching to QL-3 Ammo Techs. All the tech info we have for catapults and canopy removes is for CT-114, CT-133, CF-116 aircraft (hopefully those model numbers are correct, I am going off memory). We have very little information on SMDC, newer catapults with EGI and secondary...

    Pyrotechnics - Smoke Pot Hazards

Whoever organized the exercise and determined what ammunition was going to be used should be aware of the safety precautions for all natures of ammunition being used from the B-GL-381. The restrictions should have been given to your ammo rep by the supporting ammunition facility when the...

    Pyrotechnics - Smoke Pot Hazards

The numbers you provided are not the nsn. 1365 is the first four of the nsn, 4505 is the ammunition interchangeability code. Looking this up there are two nsns, 1365-21-860-3527 Smoke Pot Ground No 24 Mk 2 15 Min SC39 and 1365-21-103-8683 Smoke Pot No 24 Mk 2, both are HC Smoke.

    Catapult Aircraft Ejection Seat CF-18A/B

I have done a search but could not find any specific information on how the Catapult Aircraft Ejection Seat CF-18A/B works and how the Cartridge Set Ejection Seat MBCP 141 works. I understand how the ejection gun initiator works, but I am not exactly sure how the two secondary cartridges work...

    Pyrotechnics - Smoke Pot Hazards

I am sure AIMS has more restrictions for this item, but again, they all lead back to training safety. I would be curious to know though if your unit actually received copies of the user restrictions when the ammunition was issued.

    Pyrotechnics - Smoke Pot Hazards

Did you actually see the smoke pot. Most 3-5 minute smoke pots are 6 inches high and 3-4 inches in diameter. The 15 minute smoke pot is 12.25 inches high and 8 inches in diameter. If your unit was using the 15 minute smoke pot they should have been provided the restrictions with them regarding...

    What knife would you recommend?

You will find opinions will vary widely for what a good knife is. The trade (occupation) that your boyfriend is going and his intended use will be a big factor. I have used a SOG Seal Pup and I am happy with it. I have the older nylon sheath which allows the knife to be accessible when wearing...

    Recce Course

Who told you it was easy? Were they a Pathfinder maybe? Someone pathfinder qualified might find the recce course easy. I never had the chance to do the recce course when I was in the infantry, but I worked as support staff on some and I can remember thinking "poor bastards" pretty much everytime...

Enhanced Reliability Check (ERC) - Merged

QL-3 Ammo Techs have to be "Reliable" to attend the QL-3 course, and Level 2 Secret to attend the QL-5 course. I do not know what the requirements are for BMQ or when the process starts. If you are going AT, get the process started for Level 2 as soon as possible. Photocopy the forms and keep...
