New Zealand postal service to 3 days a week

I live in a rural area, and either receive or send a piece of real mail 3-4 days/week, on average.  Birthday cards, letters, miscellaneous administrative stuff, magazine subscriptions, etc.  Some of it is theoretically replacable by e-mail, but my family, friends & I enjoy sending & receiving...

Applebee’s Declares Bankruptcy After Offering Free Alcohol For Veterans Day

Never heard of The Duffel Blog, but I gather it's akin to The Onion.  Refreshing, these days. http://www.theonion.com/articles/mariana-trench-once-again-named-worst-place-to-rai,34530/

    Toronto Mayor Rob Ford

Agreed.  I'm not quite sure he has NO idea how to deal with this... he's demonstrated a certain ability & willingness to scheme resources out of the public, for example.  But he is in over his head in terms of appropriate conduct, and someone needs to sit him down and explain this to him. ...

Warning About The Personal Insurance Company - CF Members Posted to Edmonton

That's strange.  Unless maybe The Personal felt the dogs had some aggressive (or perhaps banned in that province) breed in them, I can't think of any reason why they would take that stance re. house insurance.  I've heard that mixed-breed dogs as a rule tend to be as friendly and well-balanced...

    "Double Dippers" Mega Thread

Some of those 5-7% are senior & experienced, yes, but many are also recruits or privates.  I'm not sure that that number can be relied upon for this discussion.  As for Reg F "retirees" lacking the interest or wherewithal to get a civvy job, this seems to imply that Res F jobs are easier to...

    Arrest in Melissa Richmond murder

Anecdotally speaking, in the community at large (i.e. outside DND) I have heard some skepticism on that very point as well... along the lines of "Is he working on his defence, or what?".  Some of this was voiced before his arrest. Who knows...  many substantial questions remain.

    Arrest in Melissa Richmond murder

I've been following this story on the Citizen's website, CBC, the Sun network, CTV, the Winchester Press and in social media, and the first time I heard the SD&G mentioned was today, in this thread.  So if it's any consolation, at least it appears like the majority of media outlets either didn't...

    Petawawa bridge construction

My first car had a 'vertical take-off' switch on the dash.  Those were sold beside the 'turbo-boost' switches, if memory serves.  Fortunately I never had to use it - I'm not sure the chassis would have held together.

    Petawawa bridge construction

That's quite a story, about the first collapse (not the one in 1972).  Thanks for the link.

Keep in mind that CF service often involves travel as well - but perhaps not under the conditions you had in mind.

HRMS - multiple profiles, causes problems in course registration

My understanding at the time was that I got completely out - I'm getting a medical pension, 3(B) release.  But maybe there's something else going on.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll dig a bit deeper.

HRMS - multiple profiles, causes problems in course registration

Just thought I'd float this question, part-way through the resolution process - any advice would be most appreciated.  I'm ex-military, now PS.  Every time I register for a course using my civ PRI #, the course sign-in sheet comes back showing my old military SN instead.  The course admin staff...

Why Europe Keeps Failing........ merged with "EU Seizes Cypriot Bank Accounts"

Interesting.  Thanks for this. It could be said that we, too, propagate a code of values in our constitution, Charter of Rights & Freedoms, etc.  Does the statement of values from Singapore come from the current government only, or from the country's laws & constitution?  I wonder if it was...
