Future Naval platforms, systems, & fleet composition

Are you kidding me? the Turkish military has a standing 430000+ regular force with a further 400000 in reserve troops. 3200 MBTs, 1200 Artillery, and 4000+ APCs. Since 2014 they have been improving their mobility. If Turkey can't mount a sizeable or reliable force then nobody can.

"PM says Indigenous talks may offer "solution" so Canada can honour war dead"

I just can't hold my peace anymore on this issue... Sure lots of kids died. Do we half mast for one child? How about two? No we don't. When the hockey team was wiped out we lowered it for one day. Where is the reasoning for the flag still sitting at half mast? It makes no sense. Got it! They...

    Seamen busted

The AIRO thru an AirDet Christmas party for us in the Wardroom. We were all excited to see the "shag" carpet.

    New MND - Anita Anand

That was my go to line. As a WO I was attached to a capt with the instructions "unf*** that man". He came around after a few words in the corner.

    New MND - Anita Anand

We can only pray. The only thing is her focus right now is to fix the mess Vance and the others made. Hopefully she'll have enough time left in the minority gov't to fix procurement.

Isn’t that how the fish heads see the zoomies?

Except the term Jetty Jumper used to be specific to the Air Dets as we only did high readiness ships.

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

You do realize that Manitoba has an ocean coast, right? Churchill is in Manitoba. Regardless of what the custom it's the connection that counts.

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

That would be ideal for so many reasons. If that's what we want then they should be engaged to be a major part of the commissioning ceremony and asked to smudge each ship before they're floated up for the first time.

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

So what are other NATO navies doing to combat these SWARM threats? Can we employ these solutions without having a major affect on the project Critical Path or costing? I know there was talk of the RN putting some sort of DE weapon on the hgr. Has the technology matured enough for this to even...

Helicopter working with HMCS Fredericton crashes

I'll be watching closely for the FS team's initial release. Until the final report is released I'll be keeping my opinions to myself. I spent almost 20 years in Maritime Hell so this will be hard for me. :waiting:

Helicopter working with HMCS Fredericton crashes

That's the reason there's a comms black-out! It's so very important that we respect that.

Former Canadian Forces officer sues federal government over mistaken identity...

As a former HI, I just can't imagine someone making such a huge mistake and then not making it better. And someone thought it would be better to take HI away from the units in favour of centralized HI. I hope this guy wins a good sized settlement.

Helicopter working with HMCS Fredericton crashes

Totally agree. There's a reason why the ship goes into comms lockdown whenever something like this happens. I'm sure we both know a few of those onboard that helo. I just pray for everyone involved.

Very true. It should also keep all the navy crap out of our hangar!

"Women Veterans Experience a Different Reality than Their Brothers in Arms"

I feel this article is accurate. The question is what modifications will it take to ensure that everyone that stood shoulder to shoulder is taken care of. In my OSI group we have a couple of female ex-Mounties. When we have open discussion time their POV are often quite different.
