    "Men's"/whatever "Christmas"/whatever Dinner (merged)

My unit calls it "Men's appreciation dinner" nowadays, just for PC's sake. They could go a little further and change it to Soldiers appreciation dinner... why not. Free tickets to win a few turkeys and hams, a few plaques (Soldier of the year, athlete, MCpl) and a few wobblies. Always a good time.

The Forgotten Tours: Op Halo/Op Sculpture: After almost 10 years -- still no medal or recognition

Captain (Army) Scarlet , As you can see there, we're not entitled for a MINUSTAH (at least for people part of HALO) (90 days, beginning after June 1st 04). http://www.forces.gc.ca/DHH/honours_awards/engraph/honour_awards_e.asp?cat=3&Q_ID=126 But for the MIF (first half of ROTO), nothing...

    RG-31 Nyala

    CIMIC in Kandahar

Sapper41, I worked for CIMIC before as an "adviser" on some of their projects overseas, although not in AFG. They are looking any kind of projects that would improve the "locals" quality of life. Some that come to mind: water supply, garbage clean up, school repairs and furniture, fixing up...

Cabinet to decide navy deployment, O'Connor says

I'm no Navy expert, but with with trigger happy Kim around and the Navy they got in North Korea... http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/dprk/navy.htm It seems to me that it's a hornet's nest... Then what is the exact proposal? How many ships could be sent and who's there right now? Is...

Canadian Forces Aptitude Test (CFAT) [MERGED]

I remember when I did my test, I thought that it didn't go very well... I didn't have time to complete the test. Freaky! They didn't give me the result, they said you're OK with the trade you put in for...PH TECH 646. Anyway, I found out years later that I scored a 75 percentile on that one, and...

    Google-earth sightings....

Google Earth is good stuff! Here is the new kid on the block though http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/download.html I didn't have time to look at it, but it's from the NASA and free...., the way the options are layed out is a little confusing at first, but that's worth the try! Delavan

    New Operational Service Medal Announced

I got the CPSM myself for that mission, and and stayed there 5 1/2 months... (end of March until beginning of August 2004).

    New Operational Service Medal Announced

Op Halo, that switched to UN after the first 3 months, kept the chap.VII clause until the end and ROE's stayed the same until departure from theatre of operations. To me the CPSM wasn't the one to go with. IMHO

    Orthotics

Sorry to say PIPER, but MUD RECCE MAN had it all explained (and bang on) in his previous post. I've been through this also and that was the way to go! :salute: Furthermore, ARMYVERN, being quite the SME at this, her advices are quite bang on too... ;)

    Canadian Armed Forces "corrupt"

Well, where should I start here...well well well. My best option prior joining the army was to go pick up shopping carts down the parking lot...But! Bubbles took my spot! So... Seriously, this guy is trolling big time...

    Another new truck around Gagetown

From the web site. Good stuff! At least they learn from the past. Not like trying to add armor to an already sluggish vehicle (up armoured LSVW for example). The thing I have no clue about is: Are the manufacturers are always showing up only when requested (part of procurement programs), or...

    Another new truck around Gagetown

Hi! Seen this today in Gagetown, with manufacturer's licence plate on (from Michigan). It's made by international. It's  higher than an Humvee. There is a pick-up type of box in the back (6 foot). http://www.nav-international.com/site_layout/militarybusiness/Intl_MXT_MV.asp
