I think this was the best answer... said pretty much what I wanted to say. The idea of a self-sufficient fund maintained through fundraising and donations isn't all that far-fetched - for example, the Air Cadet OPC League maintains a fund yearly on the same basis to put people through 'flying...
My buddy at RMC passed this along to me, a very decent (IMHO) video - especially if you like Ill Scarlett. I know, I know, there are hundreds of tribute videos, but I liked this one.

Quite well put. The program you mentioned sounds interesting - would that apply to ALL personnel req'd to carry weapons or just combat arms or what? I am hoping to get a decent amount of small arms training when I eventually get to griffons - speaking of which, what do those blokes carry...
blue and orange PLUS an extra blade!

although, I do believe it IS the blue and orange that drive the cost up. ;D
As for ballz' comment
it may be expensive, but the blades last a HELL of a lot longer than their cheaper counterparts.
The fusion is key. The only reason I am switching to a straight razor is because I've heard it is like the ultimate thing for people who get really bad irritation. for normal people though, the thing is key - although the blades cost an arm and a leg!
So.
It seems we all agree on a few facts...
pistol training is woefully inadequate nowadays..
'trained' or 'current' on a weapon means that you use it on a fairly regular basis, something more than just getting a PWT just before deploying..
What can be done? Is there anything in the works...
Ontario...
Cambridge, about half way between London and Toronto - very close to Kitchener/Waterloo. Right now going to school at Western in London and doing my flight training.
Well, for one as an Officer I have to set an example to NCM's, thus I can't be walking around unshaven myself, can I? Appearance and attention go hand-in-hand with discipline, and thus shaving would be 'central' to the job.
Thus, if you get irritation easily (as I do) shaving becomes the bane...
I see that this is an old one, but seriously this is a pretty serious topic when shaving is so central to your job
I use the Gillette Fusion right now BUT I'm switching to an old fashioned straight blade soon, the Fusion gives me too much irritation - I also use the old brush and bar type stuff...
couldn't agree more. My dad has a collection of Lee Enfields that he has to pay a ton to keep registered - only one of which (a '47 jungle carbine) he actually uses for hunting!
It's very interesting that they made any progress at all with negotiations.
However, this article just goes to prove IMHO that border security/security within Pakistan itself, is a huge and critical issue wrt Afghanistan.
Common sense... I think I used to know him... I haven't really seen him much in the last little while though - ever since I joined the Forces, we've parted ways! ;D
I understand that much of what he says is overblown and sensationalized (sorry, I haven't read that link yet, but I will)
HOWEVER
Some of the baselines of what he says are unquestionably true. As well, he certainly isn't the only source who would say those things, he is simply the most ...
the issue here is that it's a useless policy. It makes it expensive for law-abiding gun owners to keep owning them, and it is costing the taxpayers millions in wasted money. The policy was a quick-fix, feel-good policy designed to deflect blame away from the nancy liberals regarding the rising...
