    Crossfit & the CF

Well, since my 'inside source' got back from the seminar, we have decided to build a home CrossFit gym in our garage/yard... She has been teaching/critiquing me and I've been reading the CrossFit journal package that was given out. There is a huge wealth of information and if you have the...

New Army Equipement and CTS Update

I've worn the cadpat ruck that certain CF SOF types have, and that seems to be a pretty sweet pack. However, I don't think that its the CTS ruck - does anyone know?

    Recommendations on new boots

I have heard great things about the Hanwag boots, and if I get the chance that is what I will get. Unfortunately I haven't got any experience with them. However, I've been wearing Asolo Fusion 85 (I think they might be 95s) for a few years and they are a really comfortable but light boot.

New Army Equipement and CTS Update

Who did they interview about the small pack system? Have you guys tried to carry any weight in the damned thing? I'm 6'2" and when I have it loaded and I'm wearing it, the 'waist' belt is up above my frigging belly, and the shoulder straps slide off of my shoulders. Its acceptable as a book or...

    Crossfit & the CF

There hasn't been an agreement signed between the CF and Crossfit, but as mentioned above - there is stuff happening in Gagetown right now, and its even posted on the Crossfit website so maybe they were talking about some formal contract with CTC. They are 'training the trainers' and there are...

    New CF Fitness Policies Coming

There is a new system coming out where the PSP staff will have a PC available DURING testing and will enter all the data right on the spot. Now they take all the forms and enter them after the fact - when you have 1000 forms to do it can get tedious.

    Crossfit & the CF

I believe they are looking for a way to jump people from the Army Fitness program to the JTF2 pre-selection fitness program. Crossfit has pretty immediate gains and might be just the ticket...

There is going to be another evaluation in May, involving PSP staff down in Gagetown. DHTC has kettlebells in the gym  ;)

British Army to get high-tech new battlefield communications network

This is a heavy wide area system, not CNR. It would be similar to LTACS or the IRIS wide area stuff (does that work?). BOWMAN replaced CLANSMAN - it is tac rad.

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

I think that the Army (CF?) needs to modernize the way we think about things. Test a bunch of gear, come up with a list of stuff that is acceptable and if someone wants to buy it, they are good to go and can do that without running afoul of the c of c. If we issued everyone Hanwag boots, RAID...

I don't think that Big Red is in the CF...  ;)

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

Or it just didn't matter what they were carrying since they weren't going to fire/use it anyway...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

I think that Dropzone makes a MOLLE panel that fits onto the Tacvest. Also, there are photos of people with modded tv's, with DZ pouches attached on the combat camera site... It was mentioned here before.

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

Its not the supply chain, its the project offices and the procurement people. The QM guys give out what they've been given... if the kit doesn't exist in the system - then it isn't issued.

    Support Weapons in actual use.

Hey I think I remember the story that Iterator is talking about. It was in Visoko in 1995 that the miss happened. I think there was a tank targeting a school that the Brits were using for an OP or something, the tank was hull down. The TUA guys went up and fired on the tank but missed. I was...

    Cost of living in Ottawa

Its quite expensive. The real estate market is still booming, prices are still going up. My wife and I bought a semi-detached home in October 2004, in Ottawa south that has gone up in value by $20K! Groceries are expensive too. There are lots of less expensive places to live - Orleans, Kanata...
