Military Making Pitch to Aboriginal Youth ($1,200 bonus for aboriginals)

Hi Flawed Design, I think one of the problems with this thread is the misconception that it's a "Bonus". I have actually participated in other programs in other places that have paid me for my time there as a non-employee. I suppose perhaps some better terminology could be used... what if we...

Military Making Pitch to Aboriginal Youth ($1,200 bonus for aboriginals)

Sorry, I should have added this to the last post... you hit the nail on the head where you mentioned Hierarchy... that's what I got most out of the program, was my decision whether to go Officer or NCM. In the end, I opted for NCM because I don't feel I deserve/should be at that level... not YET...

Military Making Pitch to Aboriginal Youth ($1,200 bonus for aboriginals)

VIChris, Sounds like you'll have some interesting conversation! Give him a few minutes to think about it... There IS something I didn't discuss in that mammoth entry... .... there are actually several different programs available. I still don't understand the names totally so, someone else...

Thanks ArmyVern! Can you tell I've worked in Public Affairs before? It's the CYA.... Cover Your Ass.... BTW, not the trade I'm going for :)

Military Making Pitch to Aboriginal Youth ($1,200 bonus for aboriginals)

Wow, this is quite the fascinating read and was interesting to see everyone's input regarding this. Maybe as someone who has participated in this program, I can give you "the other side" of the story. (And, a quick hello to any PRTC staff out there who may read this!) Anyways, let me clear up...

Car insurance expired during Basic Training

I would keep your Ontario address (whatever one you have used on your application and what is on your drivers license and health card.). Also, if you are driving, you won't be reimbursed the full amount by the forces if you end up with a Quebec address.... for actually getting there, leaves or...

number of positions available? And, any advice for the new girl?

*laughs* OMG, you guys are hilarious. The problem is you guys don't know US very well. The two of us can most certainly keep up with the best of y'all, trust me! haha... but, with the "quota" of misfits being banned and the threat of the RED LOCKED THREAD OF DEATH, we're keepin' it clean.  We're...

number of positions available? And, any advice for the new girl?

Hold tight, I'm certain you're going to get your trade of choice and a position... (remaining optimistic but you know me... I never settle for Plan B, neither should you!)

    Sleep Issues on course [MERGED]

Hi Northern girl, from the other northern girl! I'm actually interested in this as well. I've heard conflicting information pertaining to this... am wondering if an MP3 player/Ipod is one of those things you have to keep in the boot box and can use on weekends with free time? Glad to hear you...

    Life After the Army Experiences

Sort of slightly off base with this info but kind of relevant. There's a facebook group dedicated to military folk making the transition to civilian life... and they have a website. You can find the group by searching for "Military to Civvie Street: Job Insight" and her website is ...

    Life After the Army Experiences

I know med techs that have their civilian paramedic course can become paramedics but some of the older ones who joined before it became standard, don't have this training. However, my ex has been offered work overseas in undisclosed locations (close to the non-existent camp) by companies there...

    Life After the Army Experiences

Shooked, you're only at a dead end if you choose to be at a dead end. Any trade/career with any workplace is the same way.  For example, I'm a graphic designer by trade... I've worked in the private sector, public sector, education sector, and hope to at some point in the very near soon future...

    Life After the Army Experiences

You could get a job at AECL (atomic energy canada limited, nuclear reactor) near Petawawa... be one of the guys/gals in the gray suits walking around with guns :) They get paid well, trust me!

    Running Question

stabmasterarson, I think you'll be fine. I'm not an expert (i'm joining, like you) but - from what I understand, the 2.4 is just a guide. WHen you go, you'll be needing to do the beep test, that's really what you should be focusing on timing wise so you don't get booted your first week. The...

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

Back in June when I went to do my first timed run, to see where I was at? I thought to myself, "Am I insane?" I was 100 pounds overweight... but, had I quit that day, I wouldn't be where I am today. Almost 50 pounds lighter! I'm also stronger and determined.... don't let one day of working out...

    Training Regimen with Odd Hours?

Not sure if vampires are back in style or not :)  Now that it's winter though, I've paused on the vampire running and moved indoors to the gym. Unfortunately, the gym doesn't keep vampire hours (discriminating bastards!)... so, I'm back amongst the land of the living!

    Hey look, another one...

I wouldn't send anything more than what they ask. Any extra stuff, could just create more "stuff", which I don't think you really want. Wait until the holidays are over, enjoy this time and start the new year fresh :)

    Cadet Wing Review Longbranch 1918

Interesting... in North Bay there is a section called Hornell Heights which is where... the air-base (CFB North Bay) is located... maybe he served here?

    Cadet Wing Review Longbranch 1918

PBI, if you have a somewhat fast connection, you can go to www.google.ca and go to the maps section. Type in (or just zoom in) roughly to the area you want to search. They have streetview which means, you can actually go to street level as though you are walking the streets... to do so, zoom in...

.... er, except for the whole digging trenches, bullets flying, gone for two years, starving half the time,  prisoner of war thing... but... you know what I mean!
