    Promotions in the CAF [Merged]

I'm starting to suspect that my coworkers were not told the whole truth.  Hmmm...

    Promotions in the CAF [Merged]

Now that you mention it, yes, I believe it was WSE.  Good catch. Seen.  Thanks for the info, Kratz. This one has me scratching my head.  I can't get promoted to Cpl unless and until I graduate from my QL5, so how is someone promoted to the 'appointment' of MCpl without it?

Well, deployment would be different; Class C is treated as RegF in most respects, acting/lacking rank included.  A Cpl I worked with was deployed as an 'acting' MCpl, but reverted back to Cpl afterwards because, as she was told, "There is no acting/lacking in the reserves".  I also work with a...

My point was that the PRes does not have "acting lacking" ranks.  Ergo, you need your 5's in the PRes to be promoted to Cpl.  The upside being that you can accomplish this in as little as 2 years.  I am aware that to get promoted to Cpl in the RegF usually takes 4 years of "time in", but they...

Yes, and this is a relatively new thing, so I am told.  Our MWO told me the other day, "This is your only freebie...enjoy it."  LOL People can't always rely on that 2 years, though...it depends a lot of your CoC and how proactive they are (and you as well: keep asking for the career courses you...

    Promotions in the CAF [Merged]

No, this is not the case anymore.  I will have 2 years in April, will just be finished my 5's, and will get promoted to Cpl.  A WO at D Mil C (the folks that handle CTs) assured me that I would get my CT offer as a Cpl.  They *cannot* take an uncontrolled rank away, 2 years, 4 years, doesn't...

    New CT process

Yes, sorry, I suppose I thought you'd see that it was a military site and recognize it as DWAN.  Next time, I'll be more clear.  :P By the way, you will need to know the name and rank of your unit's Chief Clerk as you must include this in your application.  D Mil C will send an email to...

    New CT process

Try this link: http://hr3.ottawa-hull.mil.ca/dgmc/engraph/ComponentTxfer_e.asp?Opensub=12 I applied a few days ago and heard back from D Mil C via email within the hour.

Component Transfer ( CT ) - Reserve to Regular

Just a little update: I've decided that this (PuckChaser's advice above) is the way I am going to proceed.  My course is in March, so I will apply for a CT in February, once I get my official course loading msg.  I am due my promotion in April (assuming I pass my QL5 before then), so I hope to...

Military Swim Test - When, Where, and How- Merged

The combats (or overalls) over the bathing suit will be for the swim test only.  For other 'swim PT', women have to wear bathing suit only.  No shorts over the top. For the record, we did not have to wear our combat boots or even socks during my military swim test.  It's a pretty easy test if...

From pay sheet to pay check- developing a reserve pay primer for my troops

Seen.  I realized this when I read Brihard's post above.  In my unit, we have one pay sheet per two-week pay period.  I feel for the Army clerks now. lol What I meant to say is that it's not just people currently on Class B contracts who can receive TD, which was how I read one section in...

From pay sheet to pay check- developing a reserve pay primer for my troops

Brihard, A few points on your document: 1) I saw that PILL (Pay in Lieu of Leave) was mentioned for Class A Reserve pay.  Don't forget to include that this will (not may) be included on the pay statement of all Class A Reservists at a rate of 9% of their daily pay rate.  Also, there is TAA...

My goodness, CA, would you like a little cheese to go with your whine? You've been in the CF a lot longer than I have so you know the drill.  If you don't like it, tell your CoC you prefer not to be sent on any TD trips/courses/taskings/exercises.  Problem solved. ;)

Then it is a good thing you are also getting paid while on TD.  ;D

So the $17.30 per diem for incidentals and $67.90 per diem meals (total = $85.20) is not enough to feed yourself and make up the other 20% of your hotel bill?  I'd love to know what deluxe accommodations and restaurants you patronize on your TD trips. ;)

From pay sheet to pay check- developing a reserve pay primer for my troops

Cdn Aviator, clerks don't make the rules for TD.  And we do go on TD trips for courses and whatnot, like every other member. You can take the maximum allowable if that is what you feel you need (you are entitled), but don't go crying to the clerks if for some reason your trip/course gets cut...

From pay sheet to pay check- developing a reserve pay primer for my troops

In our unit, we ask that pay sheets are submitted on or before the 15th and the last day (30th or 31st) NLT 1000 hrs (troops: submit pay sheets on your last day of work - never sign and submit a pay sheet for a day or days not yet worked, this is considered fraud).  The RPSR clerk (not me)...

From pay sheet to pay check- developing a reserve pay primer for my troops

I am new to the world of RMS, but I work in an Air Res OR, and from my limited experience, I see some information here that, in my view, doesn't benefit the average CF member. For starters, fin codes are not useful to anyone but clerks and admin/finance officers.  There is one fin code for Class...
