"Over There" TV Series (Merged Topic)

I watched it on the History Channel earlier tonight, it wasn't as good as I had thought it would be. I have to agree with the last few posts - it was quite hollywood and the acting could use a little work. Interesting nonetheless, decently entertaining, but could be improved.

    excess saliva while running

I'm the exact opposite... I tend to get a VERY dry mouth when running or doing physical exercise. I have to chew gum when running just to help myself salivate, it's an enormous annoyance.

Haha, well if he gathers a few thousand people and starts a new religion where afro's with combs and pencils sticking out of them is standard, all the power to him...

    Unhappy Incidents

On my way home from Petawawa a couple of weeks ago, when the group of us arrived in downtown Toronto we had a number of good-hearted gestures from civilians passing us on Dundas St., people saluting us on our way to the subway station, people smiling and nodding their heads at us. In the subway...

    Unhappy Incidents

I've personally never had any problems. Canadians, for the most part, are quite supportive of their troops, there's not much to worry about in this sense. Sometimes soldiers will get the odd comment from someone who's against the military in some form or fashion, but these incidents are...

    should we be at war?

I would respond to that, but I think I should hold this one in.

    Winter BMQ

It will be all the same as the summer. Like Wolfe says... it's the army. When you're running outside though... after about 5 minutes you won't even notice the cold. Don't worry too much about it!

    interview

There is nothing to worry about with the interview - this seems to be where everyone gets all nervous and tensed up, but really it's no big deal. They simply ask you a few questions about yourself, why you are deciding to join, and maybe the odd question about the military in the big picture or...

    Letters of Reference

The previous entry on this thread was correct - one of the two letters of reference needs to be from a person that has known you for more than 5 years. The other one doesn't matter. I acquired one of my letters of reference from my grade 11 law teacher who has only known me for a few years, and...

Any other fans of the Trailer Park Boys?

Mr. Lahey, drunk out of his mind, approaching Julian and Bubbles with a broken cigarette hanging out of his mouth and two tanks of propane in his hands. Mr. Lahey: (singing) "Propane, propane. Propane, propane. Propane, propane. Propane, propane. Propane, propane." Bubbles: (slowly guiding Mr...

    Army Highschool?

As previously mentioned in this threat, Robert Land Academy. I attended Robert Land Academy for a year - it is a private military boarding school (grades 6 - 12) for boys. You say you would like basic military knowledge and skills as well as a high school education combined, this is what this...

    Reserve BMQ

There is no official manual on how the equipment is used, when and where, etc.; you will be instructed on all of that during your BMQ. Speak with your recruiter or visit your OR (orderly room) and ask for a copy of the joining instructions for the course you will be on - that will provide you...

    BMQ/SQ

Don't worry too much about your physical condition. As long as you can run a decent distance and do a decent number of pushups, you will be fine. The course staff understand that many of the candidates on the course are out of shape for the most part, and therefore they will not overwhelm you...

    Drugs

Smoking as in what? Tobacco, marijuana, or other smoked drugs? Tobacco - not a problem. Marijuana - approximately 6 months clean. Underage drinking - they really do not care, 90% of the population has drank underage. If you have smoked any OTHER types of drugs, that might pose more of a problem.
