That is the roll of the infantry, it is not every on else's roll. It would not make sense for a hard Navy trade to train to do that. The test is the basic fitness level. If your trade or branch wants/needs some thing more then have at it.

They are some what water tight as per TTG's post. No bilge pump there for no drainage system. Actually it takes more than that to make it amphibious. It all so needs to be water tight (big thing there) it also needs a bilge pump and drainage system, it would need a trim vain, and a boat like hull. It would also need to be designed so that it was evenly balanced when it was buoyant...

Close with and destroy the enemy is only important to be able to do for a very low percentage of the CAF. So that should be a speciality training for those that need it. Like balance and load a 50 lb round while spinning around in close confined spaces is for others.

jollyjacktar you are right there seems to to be less and less WWII vets every year. There was only 1 Down in Lunenburg last year and he said the only reason he was out was because the weather was so warm. My Dad hasn't gone to one in may years for the same reason.

Depends on the unit and the person in charge. Use to be in the Strats if you sent a vehicle to the shop and no driver then it didn't get fixed. If the WO/Sgt doesn't have the balls to say Trooper/Pte so and so isn't going to be there for(insert what ever BS training) because he is in maintenance...

I was just saying that Gen Leslie before he retired told a bunch of us in Halifax that he ask the MND if the army could get their pips and crowns back. That was in 2010 after the anouncement that the Navy was getting it Executive Curl back. Now whether he pushed this after he retired I do not know.

The anoucement for the Executive Curl was made in 2010 during the Navy's hundred year celebration. Yes they did not get it till 2011. Gen Leslie was made Chief of Transformation in June of 2010 and did retire till Sept of 2011.
