FYI, in case anyone was wondering about it, the case law establishing the authority for BSO's to examine without warrant, is R. v SIMMONS. https://scc-csc.lexum.com/scc-csc/scc-csc/en/item/377/index.do
The MTP's to take away from this are as follows:
1. No reasonable expectation of privacy...
Ugh.....
I've heard about this guy before..... Nothing good either.....
What's sad is how on the CF Facebook page the number of idiots actually DEFENDING this clown for LYING about his service.....
That's Odd that you are no longer considered a resident of wherever you came from. I know that most students who go away for school are not usually subjected to all the requirements of changing addresses as it is considered a "Temporary" move, much the same as a contract job with the CF PRes...
I feel like an RPAL and several weeks of training should be required and a good start. In addition, the same Psych testing that we require of Law enforcement might not be a bad idea as well.
There may still be incidents, but I feel like that would be an effective risk mitigation, and...
I can see new selling points and add-ons being things like the vehicle now has firewall protection or comes with a free year subcription to Norton anti-virus.....
It's concerning though that we're getting to this point with our cars... Not surprising given the technology on board, but still...
Well that may be true, I have far greater concern that ALL armed LE agencies are not permitted to carry off duty, and even more concerned that there are so many wanting to prevent other LE agencies from carrying a duty firearm.
I feel like a good first hurdle would be to get transit, school...
I'm at the point after 16 years (PRES) where it's time to finally hang up my hat.
Without going into detail, it's simply time. However, I have no regrets, and looks fondly on all the time I've spent in uniform. It's simply time to wear a different one and protect Canadians in a different way...
^This.
We cant even get Law Enforcement officers to be allowed to carry off duty... Heck, we cant even get all sworn law enforcement officers allowed to carry ON DUTY!
There is a greater likelihood of the CF adopting a pet unicorn than there is, of this sort of thing ever taking flight here in...
IIRC it wasn't just a screwdriver, but one which had been sharpened for the express purpose of being able to go through soft body armor.... (Unless this was another shooting with similar circumstances....)
As far as the PC in Toronto goes, he is innocent until proven guilty. It's a terrible...
Whenever I do/did the BFT as of late, I would wear long compression shorts. Cut down on the thigh chafe and generally made things more comfortable for me... If they dont see it, you're usually alright. But the T-shirt thing (especially on a recruit course) is spot on.
I would not want to see any large scale cutback of fire services... Lord knows I appreciate the concept of "Paid for what we may have to do"
More Amb's are needed, but it has to be a multi-faceted approach incorporating other elements of the health care system as well. My EMS buddies tell me...
:ditto:
Google the police PIN test if you're interested in what LE looks for in fitness training.... As stated, HRPS TRU is not going to post much stuff wrt trg in the public eye.
If you want to get to that level look at the police PREP test... Now imagine you have to complete that test in...
This.... 1000 times this... While I have nothing against the bucketheads, amalgamating EMS into fire is a horrible idea. Firefighters are not Paramedics, and Paramedics are not firefighters... Putting them under the same umbrella is not going to fix anything or save money? Explain to me how a...
Nope.... as of 2013 on the date of this post, Hamilton EMS Still does not have a TEMS team. ???
But they sure do have a Bariatric unit... They may actually have two....... GO FREQUENT FLIERS!
I'm insulted that we both wear the same uniform. The difference being that the only flag on your left shoulder is velcro'ed on. My "Red Rag" as you call it is a bit more permanent. Unlike you I have something called pride in the symbol of my country... I'm sorry that the flag known the world...
:ditto:
while I may be a lowly Corporal.... (or is that L/Cpl soon?) This seems like a ridiculous waste of money to accomplish nothing when we have much better, more important things to put the cash towards....
While I know the CF would hardly mourn my departure, it's stuff like this coupled...

11 Members of the Hamilton Garrison including the RHLI, AsHofC and 31 Hamilton Service Battalion are going over to (Hopefully) bring Prabh home.
I'm proud to know all of you lads. Goodspeed, and good...
