    Top Gun 2

Not surprised by the relatively low rank. He does have a history of high speed passes over five air control towers and one admirals daughter.

This remake is the gutsiest move I ever saw man.

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

This I agree with. In fact, I'd be willing to take it a step further and question whether dedicated FWSAR(in it's current form) is necessary at all...but that is a whole other giant can of worms that really doesn't matter. Sure, but there will still be manouvering of heavy equipment happening...

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

I've been up an walking around in turbulent conditions more times than I can count. I'll admit though, it is usually (not always though) during a tasking thus 'justified'. The Cormorant cabin isn't as round as the 295. The 295 looks like it'll get more difficult to work in the more one strays...

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

Watching suit guy walk through the cabin with his head lowered so he doesn't hit it makes me cringe.

    Fur-family memories

Beautiful pup! I just read this thread and can relate. We had to put one of our dogs down a couple of years ago due to a sickness that quickly overtook her at the age of six. Holding her paw as the vet ended her life is one of the hardest things I have ever done and I still get teary when I...

'Fake' missing snowmobiler call cost Canadian Armed Forces $88K

The majority of SAR taskings are false calls granted they are not initiated maliciously as in this case. It would be interesting to see the costs of the false calls vs actual.

VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

I agree with most of what both of you are saying. Releasing members, medical or otherwise, have programs available to them that you will not find in any other career path. That said, and this is only my opinion, I can't help but see a repeating pattern of carefully calculated benefits that wager...

VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

This is true. However, if members have been deemed eligible for the benefit why not make it useful to them? I would wager that is what the loud noise is about.

VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

Yup. It's all smoke and mirrors. It's about appearing to do something. Much like the new education benefit which looks good until you get into the weeds. 80/40 thousand (taxed) to cover tuition AND living expenses. Good luck covering life's costs with what remains after tuition is paid.

VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

It would be interesting to see the logic behind it. It is hard to see how some of the payments I've heard about will do anything to help vets. The only reason I can come up with is that they are banking on people dying prior to having to make full payments thus saving money.

A buddy of mine is getting between 10 -15 dollars a month. He'll be a hundredaire if he plays his cards right.

    SAR Tech

No. The trade did a 5 year trial where it took civilians straight off the street but that program was closed years ago. Maybe that's what your friend is referring to.

    SAR Tech

None of the above. There is no best path to becoming a SAR Tech. You should pick a trade that you'll be happy doing if you never become a SAR Tech.
