    The Military Wedding Superthread- merged

I just got engaged and my fiance and I are looking for a venue. I was talking to a friend of mine and he said he's heard there are military venues that can be rented. For example one is in Kingston. He didn't use it himself so he didn't really know the details but he's known of some people that...

Solo Hours Requirement for CPL -Helicopter

That's interesting info, thanks. So did you have the solo hours listed under the requirements in section 4 or did they credit them based on your hours doing other things?

Solo Hours Requirement for CPL -Helicopter

I'm not quite ready to apply for it yet but I've been looking into the requirements and credits for DND applicants acquiring a CPL for helicopters. I've looked up the Transport Canada requirements and they state that the requirements are considered to be met for DND applicants who have achieved...

Posting Policy-Out of Canada (OUTCAN) [MERGED]

Not interested in trying to one yet just curious as to where in the world people have gone lately. I've heard of Chinooks getting lots of exchanges but not so much on the Griffon side. I know a lot of Brits and Germans over here but not sure if we send anyone over there. Anyone have any insight?

    CAF Pilots: Flying for Recreation

I'm about to graduate phase II here in Moose Jaw (weathered out for my formation test again) and have chosen to go the helicopter path. Having gotten all of this fixed-wing time I'd like to get some type of license with it if possible before moving on. I have about 120 military hours as follows...

Looking to interview (phone/skype) high performance fighter jet pilot

In addition to lumbar/spinal fractures, one path you may way to look into that often gets neglected is the danger of being sucked into a post-ejection fireball in the low altitude environment. This could mean a safe ejection followed by severe burns and/or being burned alive, especially when you...

Qualification Parade once the course is done?

To get back to your original question, when I was a reservist infantryman we had a large parade with friends and family in Meaford upon graduation from DP1 so it's not a combat arms thing to not have one. That was in 2007, dunno if it's different now or your course was just time compressed.

Looking for an active TacHel or Fighter pilot

I'm currently nearing the end of PHII training and am coming up to selection. I have talked to many former fighter pilots and some former TacHel on base here but there are obviously no current pilots from either community. If you are one of these things please PM me.

Can you wear cross-element qualifications on your DEUs?

There's a guy on my wing that was jump qualified in the army and switched to the air force. Now he wears his jump wings on his flight suit where pilot wings would go. Seems a little strange to me but nobody says anything. I'm curious, are people allowed to do this? Could he wear his jump wings...

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Interesting that they're saying that to you, maybe it means the current wave of pilot recruiting might soon be coming to a close. When I applied it took 1 year to go from start to finish and I regularly checked in and pushed and prodded the process along. Among the guys that were accepted with...

    Orthodontic care from CF

I had braces when I was younger to correct an underbite and they put a retainer in afterward. A few years later the orthodontist removed one section of the wire retainer because it was on the biting surface and kept breaking. For the last little while my teeth have been moving back to their...

    Travel Claim with Driving

I'm being posted and am driving 2800km to get to my new unit. With regard to the rule about driving only 500km/day, does anyone have any idea how strict ORs are with this rule? Ie; if I drive 700km one day and 300 the next or just skip a day completely and arrive a day early, is anything going...

    Insurance Coverage on Vacation

Interesting. The coverage booklet I have doesn't mention any international coverage unless serving abroad. Going to book my trip tomorrow morning and call the clinic to confirm before doing so.

Roger - that's what I thought but I figured I'd double check before buying the extra insurance.

    Insurance Coverage on Vacation

Going on a Caribbean vacation in a few weeks and want to get a quick idea of what is covered under the Blue Cross policy. If I get sick/hospitalized on vacation am I covered? I'm assuming trip cancellation insurance is not included, is that correct? What extra insurance is recommended if any?

    Pilot Promotion

So I'm here on Phase I flight training in Southport and there have been 2 Phase 3 courses that have graduated to wings while I have been here. On the first, everyone was promoted from 2Lt to Captain. On the second, some people were promoted to Lt and some were promoted to Captain. By the CO's...
