Well, they look all casual now, but I jumped on land and into the Sea a few times in 97 with the FISTs from 3rd Bn/75th as part of a 148 Bty/ranger exchange. We always jumped water without helmets but they were not allowed to, making a local purchase of red cooper hockey helmets instead. Water jumping into an exercise off Scotland with them fully tac less their nice red helmets was indeed a bizarre sight. Did not stop some landing without releasing eqpt or steering to land downwind either -lucky it was ocean!
