Well Done (the staek that is).
Thanks Applebees  :salute:

I'm thinking the family is going. :cdnsalute:

Jeeze everyone except for the great grandmother has served! 6 meals and have to pay for one!

Double thanks to the O P. It's nice to know about this promotion, though I don't feel right about taking it, as I've only donned the uniform once. I didn't know we had one in Victoria though, and now I do. So thanks again!

Wow, what a great gesture.

I'm sure like some of you, I definately have a guilty conscience when it comes to accepting anything for free.  Definately an appreciated gesture though!!

Eh, there's no reason to feel guilty. Gestures like this are rather good advertising for Applebees. For the cost of a few hundred free meals per store, they get to be seen as the company that cares about our service members and veterans. It won't be a complete loss for them, as most people will also likely purchase a drink or two, which of course have much higher markups than the meals. And, it gets people into the restaurant who otherwise wouldn't have. Should they enjoy their free meal, they'll likely return in the future to pay for some.

Win win on all sides.

Especially if the vets bring their families.

Incidentally, Mr. Clarke, I very much appreciate the Calvin Coolidge quotes that you include in your posts. I consider "Silent Cal" to be an underrated President.

He may not have said much, but when he did, it counted. This of course being the best example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coolidge_effect#Origin_of_the_term

It is a US offer, extended to Canada. Good on Applebees.

I would hope the offer is available in Canada.

The radio ads in Kingston mentioned CF members. and this week's Borden paper also has a half page advertisement (pg 5) of the same offer.

FYI, If interested: "The CN Tower will also offer complimentary admission to the Look Out and
Glass Floor Levels on November 11 to any visiting Canadian Veterans, Legion
Hall Members and Members of the Canadian Armed Forces":

PS. I wasn't sure if this belonged in the Remembrance Day offer thread, or deserved one of it's own.  :)

A bit off topic, but I was just wondering what the protocol on wearing a uniform in public is, especially for rememberance day. I couldnt find that much from searching.

Encouraged as part (IIRC I've been on leave a long time) OP Connection.
In bars after 16h00 (or 18h00)in uniform is usually a no-no...but you see it a lot.
