Hi,

I am currently and undergraduate science student interested in going to Dental School and joining the Forces through the DOTP. It states on Forces.ca that "...the Forces will pay successful recruits to complete a DDS program at a Canadian university." My question is, will the Forces also pay for a successful recruit to go to an American or Australian university in exchange for more years of service? Say, 8 or 10, or however many is deemed necessary?

Thank you,

Henry

Good day Henry93,

To meet the academic eligibility requirements for the Paid Education Dental Officer Training Plan (DOTP) entry plan to become a Dental Officer in the Forces you must have obtained Admission to a recognized Canadian University Dentistry program as part of the application process.

If you choose to obtain your education at your own cost in a country other than Canada then be advised that if there is any doubt about your academic credentials and whether or not they meet the requirements of the CAF you may be asked to provide proof that they do.

There are a number of organizations across Canada that evaluate foreign secondary and post secondary education.  Some of these organizations offer free services and others require a fee, which is not reimbursable by CAF Recruiting. These organizations should all fall under the national accreditation organization called the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC).  Fees associated with translation of the applicant’s educational documents into either English or French are also not reimbursable by CAF Recruiting.
