Rumours are swirling around the unit lately, coming mainly from the folks who've been tasked to the cadres for the next few months, that an EOD robot has been send to CFSME this summer, in order to give Sappers their HA Quals after they finish their CMD portions.

Anyone else hear about this?

CMD = HA for sappers. Engineers (the other three trades still do)do not have to go thru HA anymore. CFSME as achieve to extend their grip to another school.......more to follow from your chain of command .....for obvious reason.  :warstory:

The Army has bought several Allen-Vanguard Mk 2D remote operated vehicles over the last 1 - 2 years.  Many of these were bought as part of the Combat Engineer clearance Suites which were delivered to the regular force regiments & CFSME.  The purpose of this was not to help elevate CMD to the status of HA.  These small ROV were bought based on an Op APOLLO observation that Fd Sqn clearance capabilities were inadequate and out of date.

As a Schoolie, the answer to the first question is in fact that yes, that is a rumour. There is no truth to it. To support MCG, the Mini ROV's are at the school and they are a Search Tool, not a clearance tool.

I finished my 3s course in Feb of this year and we spent a couple of days using the robot during our search cell (TQ3 was a 6 month pilot course which they have since canned). We weren't given a tic in the box for learning how to operate the robot, it was more of a familiarization deal so we would know what to look forward to and an insight into what new bomb identification tech is out there.
