Hello,
I am a male, 22 year old, currently living in a Scandinavian country and have dual citizenship with Canada and the aforementioned Scandinavian country. I would like to join the Canadian military and have some questions about the joining process.
1. I need to provide the Pre-Enrolment Security Clearance Pre-Assessment Questionnaire which says that it can take anywhere from 6-18 months to complete. Can anyone give a more accurate estimation for the completion duration. I can provide good references and in the last 10 years, only lived in Canada and Scandinavia. I may be wrong to assume, but I would think that it shouldn't take much more than 6 months, coming from a country which poses no threats and has good relations with Canada.

2. How quickly could I complete the aptitude test, medical exam, and the interview? Say I came to Canada for a week to travel a bit and send in my application, would the week be enough to complete all three stages of the application process?

3. Is it OK if I live outside of Canada while the application is being processed and then, if I am accepted, move to Canada and go straight to the base that I am assigned to?

Thank you for any advice you are able to provide.

Good day Finno,

For your first and second questions: Maintain contact with the recruiters processing your application in accordance with the first post at the top of this page titled “I submitted my application What’s next????”.  Additionally in accordance with the read first post we will not answer questions about technical difficulties with the application process, or the website. We will not answer questions about difficulties contacting your recruiting centre or general inquires with regards to your current application or file. These questions can be asked here: http://forces.ca/en/page/contactus-73

Question 3 answer: After the initial assessment of your eligibility for your chosen entry plan and occupation arrangements will be made for you to come back to Canada for the testing and medical evaluation at the Toronto Recruiting Centre. After the testing is done you can return to your current country of residence to await the remainder of your processing to be completed. Once processing of your application is completed you will be informed of the outcome and if offered a position the recruiter processing your application will inform you of the next steps that you would be required to take. If you are a dependent of a Federal Government of Canada employee some of the costs to travel back for testing may be reimbursed.

There have been previous questions asked on this form from Canadian Citizens not currently living in Canada when they apply. I recommend that you conduct a search of this form as those Posts may answer additional questions that you may have.

Thanks for the information. I will search the forums thoroughly to find out more information.

Good day Tony,

Do not spam multiple social media sites in an attempt to receive different answers. You asked this same question as a private message on one of the Forces Facebook pages. As you are currently on this site asking the same question that has been previously answered looking for a new answer I suggest that you reread the information previously sent to you and review the posts on this form for information to answer your questions, specifically the posts about PLAR's and prior experience.
