Just wondering what the threat level is like in Egypt and Greece in terms of terrorisim and attacks against westerners.

Wide spread or mostly isolated incidents?

Is it pretty safe for westerners to travel and go on holidays there?

Check the Government of Canada website and the US State Department website as they have travel advisories there.

I was in Egypt a month after 9/11 and it was safe. There have been a couple of big attacks against tourists in the past and the Egyptian government has responded by increasing security. A lot. The number of soldier/police on the streets is overwhelming coming from a western country, but it does at least give you the feeling of safety. Of course, people can slip into the most secure countries, as the attack on that Sinai resort town last year demonstrated. Like the last poster said, check the Canadian government's travel advisory website and that says it's ok, it will be.

Can't tell you much about Greece since I haven't been there in over a year, but Egypt is pretty safe for westerners or at least it was this morning when I rolled out of bed.  You have nothing to be worried about if travelling to Egypt as a tourist.  Just remember that this time of the year it is rather chilly in the mornings and at night.  Bring a fleece pull over as a minimum!!
