Interestingly enough, have a good look at what they're wearing: not much.

Successful mountain warfare isn't about staggering around under 120lbs of 'just in case' kit. Grreat logistics is the key, beyond the mule teams of course, so it frees up the troops to be more mobile at high altitudes and in tough terrain.
