Glasses

I just recieved glasses today, I have 20/20 vision (at least im pretty sure) but what i really wana know is will i be able to get into the army with glasses.. or will i have to lose em (laser eye sergery etc.) I mean ill do almost anything to join the army.

You have 20/20 with glasses? that doesn‘t seem to work..

Basically to get into the army, you can have glasses, but you can‘t have really bad eyes. (You would know for a fact that you have bad eyes, i.e. if you can‘t see your hand clearly 1 foot in front of you.. At that point you‘re restriced from the combat arms)

If you can see fairly good without your glasses, you‘re fine....

The "official" CFRC stand on this issue is that you must have eye-sight CORRECTABLE to 20/20. So glasses are fine for the Combat Arms. Just be prepared to carry an extra set (in case one breaks) and be ready for the extra hassle of donning your CW gear (ie gasmask).
You can also go the way of laser corrective surgery, this is acceptable for all trades in the CF EXCEPT pilot. This costly surgery doesn‘t always work as well as advertised, but I know quite a few Army breathren that underwent it successfully.

You cannot wear your regular civvy glasses while wearing gas mask. Something about most will cause gas mask to not fit properly and cause seepage which is not good...

The only glasses that I know you can wear while donning a gas mask is some special glasses you get from CF.

Can‘t you can get perscription eye things for your gas mask? I heard the Americans get issued them.

No, you can‘t. If you‘re in the reg force, or go overseas as a reservist, you‘ll get issued a pair of "combat glasses" which are meant to be worn under the gas mask. They‘re also know as "abortion glasses" because they‘re a natural method of birth control trust me, these things are UGLY
