Following a 16-month investigation by the Calgary Police Service (CPS) Professional Standards Section (PSS), a former Calgary police officer has been charged with breach of trust & misuse of a computer system.
It is believed that between 2008 & 2023, the officer engaged in personal relationships with numerous women whom he had initial contact with through calls-for-service or police-related matters. It is alleged that the officer used police databases for a personal purpose to find & engage in further contact with the women, outside of his policing duties.
The initial complaint was brought forward in July 2023. When the investigation revealed evidence in support of the allegations, the officer was suspended with pay in January 2024. The officer’s duty status continued to be assessed as the investigation progressed. He was suspended without pay in September 2024. Shortly after, the officer resigned from the CPS. It is believed that he has since left Canada & has not returned. As a result, charges have been laid by way of warrant & the radius of the warrant has been extended to include the whole of Canada.
