I'm not sure I understand what you mean by minor/temporary?
So far I have been functionning alright I guess. I just can't go up in rank because paperwork and having too many people under my command is overwhelming to the point where I can't sleep at night.
I didnt think they were treating these as a case by case thing. It's good to hear.
I know for sure that there are mbrs serving with ADHD. Not sure about Asperger's, simply haven't come across it.
What it tends to come down to in most cases is
what limitations whatever it is imposes on you, not the diagnosis itself. I have no idea what you mean by "because paperwork" (can't do admin work???), but if you get overwhelmed/can't function well if faced with paperwork and having people under your command than yes, that is a serious limitation for the military. If you get slapped with something along the lines of "shouldn't be put in supervisory position" I wouldn't be surprised if the eventual result would be release,
if you can't correct it.
And that's the crux - if this is something that can be corrected, with counseling/teaching coping strategies or meds or whatever, that is good news. The point of a diagnosis is to then treat whatever is diagnosed; only if it can't be treated and the limitations from the condition are inconsistent with service would it lead to release.
