I am a 33yr old single mother,I am very interested in joining the Army. I think I‘m physically fit (yet at times I doubt my abilities)I discussed my interest with my 13yr old daughter, she is being homeschooled,so she is excited for me.My question-am I a nut job for attemping such a big step in life? Is a single parent "ok" in the Army?

Thanks! ;)

I think a lot depends on what you want to do. If you become a medic or MP you could be called to go to Afghanistan or Yugoslavia, you could be gone a year, since you are single, what do you do with your daughter. If you decide to become Logistics you could end up doing your whole career in Canada, except for basic and courses you would not be far from home.

The life can be very rewarding, its up to you. I decided at a young age I did not want to have an y regrets so I lived my life to the fullest and would not trade that for anything.

Thank you Trap, that helps. I look forward to the s
several (personal)rewards I may receive.
Actually, here at Base Bordon(my home is in Angus)I became interested in Communications.Any information from experienced personal would be appreciated.
And Trap-good for you and your success.

Are you considering the reserves or the reg-force?

I‘m looking into my options.But I think I want the reg-force.
