The Canadian base in Kandahar came under rocket fire attack late Wednesday, and there were no casualties as a result of the incident.
Insurgents fired three rockets in total.
"They've proven ineffective so far, save for a little racing of the heart," CTV's Steve Chao told Newsnet in a phone interview from Kandahar.
He added that there have been a number of rocket attacks in the past few weeks, launched from nearby mountains just a few kilometers from Kandahar Airfield, on the outskirts of the city.
"They are essentially on timers, and are launched towards the main base here," Chao said.
Troops locked down the base Sunday during the attack, as a standard security precaution.
"All of us were sent off to the bunkers for protection and we waited until the all-clear was sounded. It was a little bit of a scare," Chao reported.
Most of the 2,300 Canadian soldiers deployed in Afghanistan are stationed at the main coalition base at Kandahar Airfield.
