Everyone is mighty quick to put Bush down, or assign him thought patterns that aren‘t really his. Personally, I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I like Bush‘s conservative ideas; why we haven‘t hanged Karla Homolka from the neck until she was dead is beyond me. I don‘t think support of the death penalty is enough to label someone a psychopath.
And seeing as how many of the residents of this board are law abiding gun owners (guess which ones they are, Mud Crawler - and if you can guess which one taught me my firearms course, you get an extra cookie). Gun owners are no more likely to be psychopaths than anyone else; less likely in Canada, in fact, since those applying for gun ownership go through a rigorous background check that would make the NKVD blush. Psychos and guns are a bad mix, which is why the government goes to such pains to seperate that two. There are actually one or two states in the 48 that take similar precautions.
While I can generally make allowances for abysmal spelling, grammar, and sentence construction (and find myself doing so on a regular basis on this board), I really can‘t see any justification for your mammoth leaps of "logic."
And even if "we" did have another Gulf War on our hands, rest assured Canadian troops would see as much (or as little) part in it as the last one. We still had considerable resources in Europe last time out IIRC, at least in comparison to our overstretched resources now.
When the last Gulf War was on, our RSM pulled us onto the Armouries floor one Wednesday night and laid it out plain.
"I‘m sick of your moms phoning me and crying, so stop bragging to everyone you‘re going over there to fight. You‘re not f***ing going ANYWHERE."
Or words to that effect.
