Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on this...:

I got accepted in the forces as a Sig Op and I‘m happy with that. However I did spend 2 years getting a Police Studies degree from Grant McEwan here in Edmonton, my orginal plan was to go MP in the Air Force however, I didn‘t want to wait around while Alberta Student Finance started bugging me about paying them back. So I entered as a Sig Ops. Now I heard something about switching Mo‘s after Basic 1. How easy is this? 2. If theres no spot open and you REALLY want this do you have to remuster?
Any help would be great..thanks guys.

It‘s not unheard of to change MOC‘s after basic on a voluntary basis but it is very, very hard simply because they recruit "x" number of a trade to fill "y" number of positions at the other end, so they aren‘t too keen to have someone exit stage left this way.

Another issue you have to contend with is to become a MP you have to attend the MPAC and be deemed suitable (as I‘m sure you‘re aware), which only runs a couple of times per year followed by another wait until you are course loaded on a MP QL3. Not in the CF‘s interest to have you wait around for up to a year while they pay you to do nothing...

IMHO, your best bet is to go through your training as a Sig Op, do the best you can at your first posting and after 48 months, apply for a Voluntary Occupational Transfer. Two CFAO‘s you might want to read CFAO 49-4 and CFAO 11-12.

Of course, if you were really, really desperate you could intentionally fail a portion of your Sig Op training and hope the MP‘s picked you up but I wouldn‘t recommend this option to my worst enemy.

Was MP your first choice? Has you file already been sent for the MPAC board?

These are questions that need to be address.

Remusters are possible after BRT but they are difficult to come by, especially if the MOC requires specific qualifications such as MP.

If you want MP, WAIT FOR IT! If you want a job in the military, go SIG OP, and work from there.

Thanks guys, I‘ve been talking to my recruiter, he‘s going call me back in a bit. I did ask if I could be considered for MP after BMQ was completed and he ho and hummed about it but said he‘ll call me back. Guess we‘ll just see.
