As a mirror to Medkawd's post i figured maybe we could sound off on some of the best films ever made!!!

Let the games begin as i list off a few of my favorites:

1)The usual suspects
2)platoon
3)any and all zombie movies (its a guilty pleasure of mine)
4)Boondock Saints
5)Borat

Let the debate begin!!!

RTG :cdn:

In the spirit of the first post, I'll keep it to five (in no particular order):

1. Casablanca
2. African Queen
3. Being There
4. Kpax
5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

1. The Godfather
2. Dr Strangelove
3. Schindler's List
4. Return of the Jedi
5. Godfather Part II

Old movie for an old ( sorry ) topic.
I doubt it is the best movie of all time, but...
Watched "Places in the Heart" the other night on TVO. Although my wife and I enjoyed the movie itself, it was the scene at the very end with the sheriff and the young man that I thought was particularly well done:

1) Boondock Saints
2) Unbreakable
3) Grandma's Boy
4) Lord of the Rings trilogy
5) Anything by Bruce Campbell.. Hail to the King, baby!

Anything by John Huston (The Maltese Falcon, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, African Queen, Moby Dick)

Almost anything by Sam Peckinpah (The Wild Bunch, Straw Dogs)

In my opinion, the best movie ever made, of all time, is (was?) 2001: A Space Odyssey.

From cinematography to story line to, well, everything. It's the most beautiful, and one of the scariest movies I have ever seen.

In no particular order

The Departed
Inglorious Basterds
Kelly's Heroes (Woof)
Zombieland (just because of Bill Murray's cameo)
Ghostbusters 1 and 2
The Good The Bad and The Ugly

1.  A Bridge Too Far
2.  Das Boot
3.  The Army of Darkness
4.  Hot Fuzz
5.  Monty Python The Search for the Holy Grail

1. The Godfather II
2. Eastern Promises
3. Apocalypse Now Redux
4. In Bruges
5. 21 Grams

1.  Conan the Barbarian
2.  First Blood
3.  Fast Times at Ridgemont High
4.  Blade Runner
5.  Tron

Incase you can't tell...5 of my favourite movies are from the year I was born...1982

I guess great minds think alike!

2001 is by far my favorite film. The music, imagery and sets are beautiful. The science is accurate, or at the very least, realistic. The movie has a greater scope than almost any other, sweeping from Earth millions of years ago, out to the edges of time and space.

The movie is also a spiritual experience. A story of evolution, revolution, and transformation.

Super 8
127 Hours
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
All george lucas films (Star Wars/Indiana Jones)
Inception

I also like A Bridge Too Far all of The Bournes and Mission impossible. MI4 is coming out!

Not in order:

Blade Runner (Director's Cut)

Death to Smoochy

Star Wars: A New Hope

Life of Brian

Twelve Monkeys

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Is that the movie formerly known as "Star Wars"?  If so, then I agree.  It was a great film (the original) with a good story line, full of excitement, etc.

I do not share the same enthusiasm for the other movies in that series.

Or, as my mother would tell me, "Fools seldom differ"

But, seriously, what evokes more creepy imagery than this:

1. Alexander Nevsky:

2. The Third Man

3. The Seventh Seal

4. The Blue Angel

5. Tunes of Glory

And about 20 more ... some already named (e.g. Casablanca) and others less well known (e.g. To Live) ...
